Sorry your Portraits are even worse the Pillars Eternity 1 why?
It's confusing to say the least why you would expcept such junk in your game.

I'll explain for you. I know multiple people that are concept artitst for film and have done concept art for games.

Your faces in your protraits are expressesing low vibrational crap. I mean they are hard to even look at. The females have weird expressions and they face is not symetric at all.

When you create something it has to be so everyone can enjoy it not want to change it or cringe from it. That means you don't just constantly create an ugly face, or ugly music, or an ugly scene in a film/game.

The question is why would you do this? I don't even know anyone that looks like expressions you have in your portraits. I have to go out of my way to mod your portraits plus create my own portrait because you don't even understand faces.

Get your act together this isn't politics it's Fantasy! Fantasy Game! Role Playing a Character that you create.

I agree I was puzzled to say the least about the portraits... Worse than PoE and Tyranny

it's strange that they would decide on those expressions. Puzzling.

Josh do I need to give you lesson on Renaissance Art since you so love Middle Ages.

It's the ingame character portraits that are a problem as well as the portraits you create with your chacter. And yes it's a problem.

Very annoying. I didn't fork out 100's of dollars to have to mod the portraits of characters in the game becauase the faces are off their expressions are wrong, and they are just hard to look at.

Watching videos of the beta and looking at previews...just there wrong looking.

sorry to hear that, but still if it remains an issue, you can still mod it, its also very easy as well.
Unless you just wanna be stubbern and refuse to fix the issue yourself if it does infact need fixing on release.

I am modding everything I already have the files saved when I play the game.

Is that even possible? If so, what a shame.

Awesome looking custom created useable character portraits Mod should be developed and released for this game for all races and classes in the game officially!

Yep. Portraits look crap. Really hope that's not final.

I think the main problem with new portraits in POE2 is that bigger part of them is backer portraits based of backer photos. That's why there are so many weird looking chubby faced elves (everybody wants to be a thin good looking elf forgetting that their face is better suited for broad faced amaua at best) and strange aspect angles. You can really see the difference between artist's original and edited photos. I'm glad that backers got what they paid for, but I'm using a custom portrait, thank you very much. And I encourage people to look for their own custom one too.
If you don't know where to look we have a thread in the official forum gathering interesting custom portraits and taking requests in watercolorizing them for scripted interactions and conversations:

+1 for those awful character pics

The character models are so well done in this game. I wonder why to make portraits at all? You could just use a screenshot of the character's actual face. I do hope it will be an option.

yea thank you for that and fantastic Work!!!!!

no the portraits are done on purpose to look stupid ugly for females and males. I did some research on some things in GD.

so what is wrong? first no one chin is like that and neck the proportion is off. Second the facial expressions are wrong they have negative vibration.

Pallegina whatever her name is portrait is horrible who wants to look at someone who is making that expression at through the whole game?

I can find tons of better artists and faces by artists that aren't even professional but want to be that are better then what Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire is delivering on this.

I say this honestly this Dev had no excuse, none to create such crappy art with out even oking it with backers.

When you have people helping fund your game you enter into an almost contract with them to deliver on all fronts, since they are part of your funding for your project.

well at least we can mod our own pictures.

and once again thanks! I keep an eye on that thread and your work!!!

If nothing changes in release version you will be able to change even your companions portraits if you don't like them. In that same thread there were posts with prettied up modified companions portraits (disregard the hot debate that came after :)) made by some very skilled anon.

i agree i was surprised they havent even try to do anything when it comes to improvement for the portrait department . such a let down i will once again have to use my own portraits.
