Help! Requirements for identifying hidden objects
I'm having problems with identifying hidden objects. I know that there are hidden objects (latches that open doorways specifically) in an area since I've already done a playthrough on the classic level. Now I am going through on path of the damned solo. I am up to level 15 stealth and still not able to idenitfy hidden objects that Maia saw with level 6 stealth (group level 9). So I can't continue on this path critical quest.

What am I missing? This is in the Yseyr / Hanging sepulcher section. Sleight of hand was level 6 vs 2 for Maia (4 group) on classic level if that helps.

Finding hidden objects is based purely on your Perception. If you need a boost, get a Perception inspiration or pop a Ripple Sponge.

Perception is all you need to spot things. Don't need to be stealthed like the last game, or have a high mechanics.

Thanks for the help! It would have been nice to know that earlier.

I didnt either so now I haul two characters to wherever traps are. One to locate them one to disarm them. Alternatively you can create an adventurer with very high perception to get you through those tough spots.

Ripple only gives a 3 boost. How does one get a Perception Inspiration? I started with a 10 Perception character and don't seem to be able to finish theYseyr quest with this character. I have the two epics but can't get the door open to the tomb.

+1 from Onyx, the black pig. If you don't have it maybe another per gives you that too?

+1 from Private dance room (200 cp) at the Wild mare in Nekataka.

+1 protective Eothasian charm that Xoti has got. Dont know from where. Anyone can wear it.

+1 Woedeca's Wisdom (it is a hood).

+1 Chameleons touch on ranger or cipher (its a ring).

Finally unless you are playing solo why does YOUR character have to have high perception? Xoti has a 12 base perception. With the above bonuses she is at 16 and barely misses anything. Seraphen reaches 18 perception (Screenshot without the luminous bathouse rest
or the piggy following)

Hope it helped! Sorry for editing every 5 secs was swapping between game n post to check things. Good luck.

Did you read them???? I mean did you click in the epics in your invetory to read them? I got stuck there too. If youre talking about the door with the statues it has nothing to do with perception. Read the epics in your inventory, then click on the statues. Just registered...

If you read the tutorials that are actually very well made in this game you would have known that. It's a bit easy to say "It would have been nice to know that earlier." when the game gives you that very information less than an hour into the game.

Don't skip tutorials and then complain the game hasn't explained you how it works or you will sound stupid.

There is a few topics that no tutorials cover and which are actually pretty important but this isn't one of them and it's very clearly indicated.
Anyone figured out the highest perception you need to find everything?

What is the maximum check for hidden object, 20?

Thanks for the help. I'd thought I'd read the eulogies but must have done so in any earlier path and picked up a save in which I hadn't read them yet. I'd struggled with the folks in the eastern tomb, playing at level 11 solo, i.e. well beyond my ability for solo. Just snuck past everything else.

I'd played Pillars before and wrongly assumed that most of the characteristics/ play mechanics were the same. There are a number of things quite different. So, I hadn't read the tutorials.

I was playing that character solo as indicated earlier. I usually play with a group but it was pretty easy even on path of hte damned so I'd give solo a go. I found the path of the damned play to be more difficult in White Marsh than Deadfire has been so far but one can just up the ante by looking for folks beyond your level. (I've got 112K experience points but have only used 55K since I want to be able to guide my character though without re-specing them.)

Thanks again.

hem hem... I kinda realised that halfway too. Not a big tutorial reader either. I assumed mechanics contributed to it. Just a fluke that my high perception char noticed something and my high mechanics guys didnt. Hope you managed to finish the quest.

At this point, I'm just wandering around and not looking to finish quickly. I'd finished once at the classic level to try to see how many things changed. I noticed a bunch but since I was always with Maia, I didn't catch the switch to Perception for finding hidden objects. (I like her as a back level sniper alot)

I've got experience points for level 16 but haven't leveled up past 11 to make it interesting and also to to get a better sense of the whole game. My classic ended early but I don't think I did a high percentage of the quests/ tasks/ bounties etc. Finished at level 17 or 18.

Read the tutorials there's not that many of them and a lot of details have changed since first game. Many things in combat are different too like engagement or armor penetration

There is one dungeon in the game, the sandswept ruins which has the highest perception demands I've found so far. There are a heap of traps and some of them near the end required me to have Serafen pop a ripple sponge just to spot them. There is supposed to be a hidden button in a hidden room in that dungeon to turn off the final trap but I think I had 18 or 19 perception and I still couldn't spot it.
