There's a reason D:OS 2 is a massive success. It's fully 3D but isometric.
I'm just assuming that is not what OP meant. I think he meant making it 3D like DOS is, being able to rotate the camera and all that. Not making it 3rd person, which is completely doable, DAO for instance.
Your opinion, not mine. D:OS 2 upped the ante and some sceneries are very beautiful, almost like hand painted.
No, I can't agree with that. While being well done, just enable zoom in with POE 2. The characters look pretty good because they're 3D, but the 2D background is really ugly if you zoon in more, which is why they limit the zoom so much.
You can have a top down view with 3d look at DOS or neverwinter nights or any rpg made after the infinity engine era. A 3d isometric map means you can rotate and change your view point and it would be better
So Pillars of Eternity using AWESOME hi res looking background and 3d special effects/characters is perfect combo imo.
Divinity looks great but it's not gonna age as well as PoE
