I can't figure out how to get from the ship back to land.

So, I've set a course for the place where I started when the ship gets fixed, but I can't figure out how to get off of it. I can go to the deck or the world map but can't move from the ship to land. Anyone mind explaining how to do this?

You need to find the little icon along the shore. Those are designated landing points. Can't just land anywhere.

Do you mean the cities or locations? I have my ship right outside of Vilario's Rest but when I right click the shore it just puts the gold marker down in that spot but doesn't disembark me.

Go to the PORT on the opposite side of the island... I was a bit boggled about it too, that I couldn't get off the ship, but it has to be a port or a city, go to Port Maje, and you should be able to disembark and replenish your supplies, buy some cannons, etc.

On some islands there are little gold anchor icon/buttons on the world map. You can click on those and you'll sail over to them and disembark or get back on your ship if you're on foot.
