how well do ranger pets scale?
I remember trying a ranger in PoE 1 and found that my ranger outpaced my pet pretty quickly when it came to doing damage. I'm curious if it is any different in deadfire. Considering doing a multiclass ranger but wondering if it's worth focusing on upgrading my pet or just using it as a distraction.

Pet has allways been weak, its mainly a meatshield/debuffer. If the pet woud be decent 5 ranger woud be to OP. Maby the summon pet version of ranger make it better?

Bah in this game using a pet as a tank isnt the best idea. If they get knocked out during combat the ranger gets a debuff because hes sad.

meat shield is not tank. Meatshield is smth you throw at the enemy to distract them abit while you do other things (like a free summon). Sure using your pet like this reduce your ranger to a long ranged fighter but that´s what they good at. Woud also say it´s better to use it as a debuffer and when stuff get harry let your pet soak a few blows.

Ye but thats the problem, even the boar gets nearly 1-shotted when youre underleveled. I also find them a bit too hard to micro manage so too often they just unwillingly debuff my ranger.

Its probably just my playstyle or team setup but Ive decided to run without actual pets and just mass summon some Chanter creatures or Idols.
