**** Multi-Monitor *** Can't play
So *successfully* started the game up 3 times now since I got it this afternoon.

1) The first time loading up the game it made all my monitors go black before completing (Main Menu). NORMAL when games are in Full Screen. Checked the Graphic settings and it was in Windowed which was odd but I keep it Windowed. Never toched another Graphical setting from here on out. (All is well)

2, 3) Started the game up two more times a few hours later, not changing any settings with the exception of uncaging the mouse so I could use the mouse on other screens. This checkbox is NOT in the graphical settings. (All is well)

4 -12 attempts) Now the game does its usual make my screen go black but it now stays black and can no longer play. Tried nearly 8 or 9 more times and every try I have to shut down the computer. (Apparently I can no longer play)

What happened? Does the client now think I have 8k or something? I only have three monitors all 1080p (1920 x 1080).

--

When the screen goes black I can hear the game but my monitor just says "out of range" (an actual *monitor message and not from the O/S).

Where the frick is the .ini?

BTW when a monitor outputs a message of "out of range" it always means the resolution *attempting* to be used is way too high for the actual monitor THEREFORE the PoE2 client has decided upon itself to change my resolution to something drastically too high.

HELP! Where is the .ini DEV that is reading this because I see you commenting on tons of other threads.

I have multi monitors too (3 all 1920x1080) and my screens keep flickering (specially the shadows and the vertical lines).

Tried triples, single, full screen and windowed.

i7 7700k
Gtx 1080
Latest drivers.

Try unplug the other two monitors and run the game?

Excellent idea actually, unfortunatlyy that did not work. First thing I tried after the first OOR message. I think this game is permenantly trying to do some 4k or 8k resolution.

Ok just found an *output_log.txt* file in the main app location (\Steam\steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity II\PillarsOfEternityII_Data) with a line that reads:

- desktop: 1920x1080 60Hz; virtual: 3840x1080 at 0,0

So does that mean the game is attempting to do 3840x1080 on my single monitor [that goes black out of the three] instead of 1920x1080?

Tried several other games and not having this problem. Is this a multi-monitor problem?
McCloud May 8, 2018 @ 8:50pm
Out of pure desperation I found the soltuion. I originally tried using ALT + ENTER to force a new mode but it didn't work

BUT if you hit ALT + ENTER for the amount of monitors you have it DOES WORK.

Fixed this problem by using that command combo 3 times in a row. You have to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me! Jesus Christ! lol

Found the cause! When you have *multiple monitors* AND uncheck the Cage Cursor option the black screen will always occur. Turned Cage Cursor back on and it fixed the problem. No more having to spam ALT + ENTER when starting the game to get rid of the black screen.
