Hum...I haven't gotten the game yet (gonna wait till bugs are patched ) . But from some of the comment , where peoples compare it more to BG2 . If they did copy some stuff from there . Beware : in BG if a companion give you warning of leaving (keep an eye on their approval) , if it goes real bad , they can either run off and leave the party for good (with ALL your stuff that they are carrying) , or turn Hostile and fight you (and keep the awesome weapon to stick into you) .

I'm a little confused. I don't understand all the lore, but from what I gather, I want revenge on Eothas. Why then does Eder get pissed when I do something against the followers of Eothas?

Eder's current relationship with Eothas is "it's complicated", since Eothas recently died in a war, and Eder fought against him in that war not knowing he was really Eothas...

But he overall still likes Eothas, or at least the idea of Eothas.

Why Eothas nearly killed you, who knows.

Every Companion has a list of likes and dislikes which you can see. It's one of the tabs on the character sheet. Avoid doing anything listed in RED. Try and do things listed in GREEN.
