Can't import PoE1 save file
When I try to import my PoE1 save file it says "no save files found". I played PoE1 on GoG and am playing PoE2 on Steam, am wondering if that in itself is the problem?
If not, does anyone know how to work around this?

My copy of PoE 1 is from Steam and I have the same problem.

ETA: I swapped my PoE saves folder for a copy of it I had saved a while ago in an external harddrive and it worked, so maybe reinstalling the game could work?

It allowed me to import, but importing just gives you hints on what choices you made before. it doesn't skip that scene

I can't do that either. Both games bought on steam.

If you won't be able to import your save files, you can always click on "Options" in the main menu and then click on "Set PoE1 Game Stats". Basically, you can create your own save file there, just like in The Witcher 3, for example. If I remember correctly, it includes White March as well.

From what I read over on the official forums, you need a finished savegame. It creates a specific file when it shows you the results of all your actions.

It won't import a game in progress.

If you DO have completed games, I don't know what to tell you.

I do have a completed game

For those having issues: You need to point the game at the file called...

[random letters and numbers]gamecomplete.savegame

The correct save file literally has "gamecomplete" in it. If you only have autosaves or quicksaves then the import will not work. You need the game completion save.

Are the saved games folders for each of the games in the same root directory? For example, I played them both through steam, and my saved game directorires look like:

C:\Users\csand\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity
C:\Users\csand\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity II

It was able to find my save game from 1.

Mine are gone. Do you guys know if PoE 1 does cloud saving? Redownloading PoE should give me my saves back?

It did for me. I'm playing on a new computer, but I reinstalled PoE1 through steam and it recovered my saves as well.

Yes, there is cloudsaving. Started PoE 1 in 2015 on my Laptop and just about did not finish it on time on my desktop.
