There were requests by the backers to add multiplayer like in Baldur's Gate series where players could control one of the party's characters each, but so far devs haven't responded with anything confirmative. Who knows, perhaps after launch with one of the DLCs?

Yeah, also have no hopes for that this is going to happen. But its a shame because those kind of games are wonderful for story-focused Multiplayer games and story-focused Multiplayer games are so damn rare today. Would support such games with pleasure
I would have-Pre-ordered Pillars 2 because it looks great and have sweet ideas but I dont like gameplay enough now adays to play this game alone for so many hours.
I sure will buy it for 10€ and play a few hours someday but would have loved to pay and play it much more.

personally i dont like Multiplayer in this kinde of games. It has a very strong Story fokus and i want to read every single book etc. For the Immersion of the World its nice not to have somone who talks to me and bring me out of the world.

Story focused games dont need multiplayer and there's no market for a story focused game with nothing but multiplayer. Thats why story focused games with multiplayer are so rare.

I keep repeating myself...

If you want to socialize in a video game. Go play an MMO. Play PUBG or Fortnite.

Explain me why it disturbs you to let the other doing multi player?

You can play solo even if the game is multi...

A considerable amount of development time & resources need to be put into creating proper multiplayer for game like this. Even then it would still be kinda bad (realtime with pause combat in multiplayer? that is really bad idea)
They are better spent elswhere.

There are so many multiplayer games out there these days (majority really) go and play those.

People always ♥♥♥♥ on the idea of MP. I get it, Im not demanding it be added, but the idea of having coop would be great. It does make sense that it isn't included, game is likes 70 hours, hard to get a whole playthrough with another person.

The reason a lot of people frown on multiplayer & singleplayer being mixed into the same game is that you have to develop content to handle BOTH sides. This means work that could have been spent on refining one side is spent on the other side.

So of course people tend to give multiplayer the thumbs down. Not saying it CANT work, just that it is extra work which can too easily dilute the product. And its extra work that doesn't really make the product "better", it just allows for people to play with their friends.
