Stuck in Old City (damn lift left me)
So Ive done this whole area/questline a few times now, but this time I was absent minded and went down before getting any quest from Dareo or Enoi. Naturally the lift is gone and I cant find a way out.

I know theres a rowboat on the side of the map that takes you back to The Gullet (area with water shapers and pirates), but I cant get there without aggroing a bunch of pirates and getting insta -5 Principi repuation and effectively killing off a swathe of quests. The pirate that starts a convo when you go down zipline goes aggro when he spots me from failed sneaking, only options are leave (causing aggro) or attack, no option to talk to captain since I didnt pick up other quests.

How the hell do you get out? That survivor mentions getting out from a river but Ive scoured everywhere and cant find it. Nobody in my party has even a single point in stealth and Ive tried and failed many times to sneak to the rowboat. Is there some other exit or am I stuck killing the Principi questline just to get the hell out of here?

I guess, kill them all or reload. There's a bluff check to meet the leader that causes the pirates to become neutral but you don't seem to meet the requirement.

Theres NO other exit? Seriously? God I cant believe Black Isle made such an oversight with this area. Theres no option for a bluff check, not even the red option to show I dont meet requirements, its just not there, I assume because picking up the other quests triggers its availability.

You are not stuck killing the Princippi questline. I killed them all down there -though it is posible not to make them hostile- my Watcher just doesn't like pirates. I was at -5 with the Princippi and I still could do their questline.

Why are they hostile to you anyway? I had to deliberately attack them to make them hostile.

Edit: Nothing wrong with Black Isle's design. You somehow made them hostile and now you have to fight your way through. Or you could have gone up the lift -like I did on the second playthrough- before the timer expired and then down again. There's a lot of options there.

Its an illegal smuggling ring, so obviously pirates are going to be attacking any tresspassers. I have 0 rep with the Principi. The brawler asks what Im doing there, like I said the only two options both start combat.

And yeah I just tried the lift to delvers row, and whaddya know right when you go up it your right in a group of 7 thugs, who of course also go aggro, causing -5 rep with them and nearly everyone in Delvers Row going hostile as well, killing those whole quests too. And if your rep is real low with a faction, they will either go hostile or no longer work with you, im surprised it worked for you at -5.

And I dont see how this isnt bad design on Black Isles part, you enter the gullet and watch some poor Roparu get sent into a pit of monsters, naturally the right thing and what they expect you to do is go down and help him. Yet your punished for doing so, despite them putting the whole quest on display as a big show. Its stupid to have the lift leave after 12 hours considering the vast amount of enemies in the area, meaning after a single rest your stuck. And if you dont have the necessary quests active, the only way to escape is to turn one of the major factions hostile against you.

You only need 1 stealth guy to make your way to the boat. If he makes it there, it will take your whole party back to the main city. Oh just read you have no stealth. No consumables or pets with + stealth? You might be able to get lucky with 1 guy.

Black Isle Studios was closed in 2003.

If you sneak through the camp towards the boss (rather than trying to escape), you can talk to Mad...whatevertheirnameis to avoid aggroing all of the pirates.

Yeah thing is theres a giant group of water shapers that form an inpenetrable wall, and after them another group of pirates making it impossible to sneak that far without aggroing.

I tried this too, got pretty far, past the boar shed, but on the moat there are two guards side to side and I cant get past them without aggro as well. And wouldnt it just say you must gather your party before venturing forth?

just kill them all or reload. the princippi dont give a - about how many of them you kill.

I managed to do it with Serafen, my stealthy barbarian. The enemies didn't seem particularly observant, so if you have a character with decent stealth, just send them up alone, taking rests along the way if possible.
