Fampyrs kicking my butt?
So I found the Fampyr continent and thought I should quest there. Until I encountered a Fampyr. These bloody bastards are nigh unkillable for me, and makes progressing through the area practically impossible. Is there some secret trick? Are certain weapon types and all the magic I can throw at them not effective enough?

Ya they suck. Insane stats all around, each and every one has stats of a level 20 ish tank. Not only that their charm seems bugged, ignores resistance and never misses (hit my char who had 135 will at the time) If you aren't abusing the OP combos right now and with Charm immune no longer a priest spell, it is a rough ride.

I beat them by spamming summons that they would charm instead. Or be OP and frost bow them, meteor scroll them and whatever else is over the top at the moment

yeah they are tough.. and if not prepare their charms (there are foods that help with intelligence affliction ) are real pain.

for hitting them though it weapons with accuracy toggle can be nice and add buffs there and try get them flanked to lower deflection
i usually take one of my companions with a arquebus and pick them one by one, i bait one of them then i cheese him. if you go all in, pretty much you are gonna die... ALOTH (get the joke)

just hit. make him chase you, then cheese it.
it comes really handy sometimes were i had to fase like 4 or 6 fampyrs + skeletons

Resistance to resolve affliction work to downgrade the charm? Although getting said resistance isn't exactly easy for an entire party.

I just noticed this because my tank was never charmed, vs my entire rest of team constantly charmed :(.

Take a paladin with you and make sure he has Liberating Exhortation. Paladins also have an ability that lets them break charm/dominate with an attack. I'm not sure but I think the 1st level Priest spell Supress Affliction will also do the trick. Unfortunately, you can't charm/dominate your charm/dominated companions or that would be an option.

Note that dexterity afflictions will work on them (paralyze), and some of them have resistance to intellect afllictions instead of immunity so they can be dominated or charmed. Otherwise, use your accuracy abilities and focus them down.

It's fully optional area, and it is for level-capped characters.
If your main problem is domination, use some sverf or langusts (sold at Dunnage), they give you immunity.

One word - Svef.
Also items with intellect affiction resistance/immunity... like Modwyr.

Honestly, you can also just empower a Minoletta's Concussive Missiles and watch them blow up in pieces. It's a level 4 spell.

That says, the Fampyrs encounters in Splintered Reef and Fampyr's Crypt are the only encounters in the game that resemble some distant visage of a challenge in PotD difficulty, and it's mostly due to their overpowered charm ability - which can be countered easily if you know how.

Pretty sure they're bugged. If you get the Shimmering Scale and take the enchant that makes it immune to gaze instead of reflect chance you can watch dominate gaze spam charmed-immune 100 times a second in the scrolling text. Which is why the Resist/Afflict system doesn't do jack fighting them. Chant for Avery Their Eyes From the Fampyr's Gaze lasts all of a tenth of a second.

quick question, before i check it myself, does blinding work on them? their ability is called a 'gaze', and blinding is supposed to prevent gaze attacks (notably, both incoming and outgoing; so if blinding them doesn't work, maybe blinding yourself will?). and there are are tons of ways of inflicting blindness on people in the game.

All you need is a paladin with the Aegis of Loyalty skill, whenever someone is charmed/dominated make the paladin hit them

I used wizard's slumber spell, when a companion gets charmed just give him/her a good sleep, the charm spell seems broke much quicker when my companion falls asleep.

Hachets will intterupt, use items that protect against charm. Use spells that do damage over time. First person to attack will likley get charmed. so approach in stealth, attack with a ranged and then have melee ♥♥♥♥ them up.

Yes blinding works on them, I always start the battle using Maia's blinding shot, and Pallegina's aoe blind as well. Makes managing them way easier and gives you plenty of time to burn them down before it wears off. Xoti can also take a spell later on that increases the duration of afflictions on enemies, it's extremely useful on longer encounters.
