Valera/Bardatto feud ... any solution I missed? (spoilers)
I prevented a heist by being present and killing the attackers. The Bardatto family now wants me to kill the entire Valera family and vice versa, while they only asked me to assassinate one ... the game doesn´t seem to provide that option. Atello Valera is never alone and the thoughts of poisoning his dinner or something similar quickly faded, so if I attack him ... I attack the entire family.

My initial thought which I thought was logical through conversation was to convince Atello to disappear to restore peace between the families, albeit a very fragile one. This wasn´t an option.

I had thought of at least 4 other ways I could have solved this problem, none of them were an option.

Seems like my only option is to kill Valera and family or leave the quest as is and unfinished.

I then remembered that Pallegina stated that she would have no part in killing one of the families which begs the question of whether she is gone if I chose to be a mass murderer just because the game doesn´t provide me with further options.

If you already went so far as to prevent the heist, you already passed the point of diplomatic solution. You can kill Atello in his study. There will be one guard present, just close the door before you do it. You can walk out just fine afterwards.

Yes, I had to go back to resolve it peacfully.

If you go back before you speak to the Bardatto woman (handing in the schematic of the vault and triggering the heist sequence) you can still talk the Artello father and get him to agree to meet the Bardettos. After doing that you can then still hand in the vault schematic and get the XP for that plus reward but then decline for now to engage in the heist ambush. Speak to her again and you get the option to set upo the negotiation scenario. But you must get Papa Artello to agree to negotiations before you do this.[/i]

If you interact with the heist quest at all, peace seems impossible :(

Just slaughter both familes out of spite and be done with it, they can't possibly make any unsolvable feud when they're all dead

Thanks, it didnt occur to me that closing a door would prevent the comotion caused by fighting. There is another one there, not just a guard .. can´t remember his name.

I went back and it was still a very bad outcome, if you wanted diplomacy that is -- though I'm not complaining about the resulting loot. I went back to Artello to ask about diplomatic talks. I didn't agree to save someone that was caught, as in my mind they were caught already with the schematics and running back and forth just seems pointles. So they fight me and that didn't end well for them.

I return to the other family whom is not happy even though I wasn't the aggressor. I skipped the urge to be aggressive even though I'm thinking of the vault.

So I go to the vault and raid it, leaving the family alive but thinking they will surely turn hostile. I leave the premises unaccosted and the matriarch takes the blame for Artellos death. I can't argue my pleasure at that but the outcome was a bit odd.

It could be improved upon like any other quest in random games with very stringent, perhaps illogical, triggers.

Anyway, glad I didn't go the Agressive route...overtly, at least. Even if my diplomacy turned into a bloodbath.

Both parties colaborate with you with assassination plans, by this time I have friends in high places and through "lawful cohersion" I should have been able to threaten them both. If anything escalated any further I would have both head of families removed.

As another solution I could actually have convinced both families they faced a much greater threat from the outside, scare tactics with the help from a certain pirate. That should have both families worried about something else.

My PC is generally a nice guy and very good friends with Edér. I knew nothing of any quest involving the Bardatto's. I butchered the whole family after the old bag insulted Edér.. I found this thread looking to see if this would cause major problems progressing the main storyline. it doesn't.

Yeah I messed up on this one on my first playthrough, I somehow managed to get them to like each other but that was on a save before I noticed I'm thinking if you stopped that underground bank hoist from happening and killing them to save percy whatever her name was if you wanted as well. That's probably when I couldn't do the alliance anymore

You can resolve it peacefully but you get waaaay lesser loot. Just kill all of em I say

Each family leader will give you a unique after you negotiate peace, and it's easy enough to loot the vault at any point, getting whatever is inside. So you don't really lose out on much.

Negotiating peace is the best conclusion, and it doesn't stop you from planning your own heist of the vault. If you're using Pallegina she will leave your party if it ends in bloodshed.

I just did that part a few minutes ago.

He is in a room with 1 guard and 1 other family member. It is quite simple to deal with.

1) Go in the room during the day.
2) CLOSE THE DOOR
3) Kill the 3 people in that room.
4) Walk out without anyone else in the house noticing what you did. As long as the door is shut during the fight nobody else in the house will agro you.

I make this quest line my 1st priority when getting to town because I like that armor that drops. My Paladin'/Fighter is my Intimidation character and the armor gives bonus deflection based on Intimidation. At level 5 he now has 79 deflection and well on his way to 'will not die' status.

I tried that, somebody always opens the door.
