Exit Old City (Spoiler)
Where is the river exit that the Lone survivor hinted at?

Similar discussions have answers from people who obviously have further progressed in other quest lines.

I have cleared out all old city area monsters and finished with the Lone Survivor.
The pirates in undercroft always attack me. They do not start a dialog before attacking.
I have 5 sneak and it isn't possible to 'sneak to the right' in the undercroft to get at some mythical boat.
Going up to delver's row will trigger a fight.

Hm, that is weird and sounds like a bug to me.
Do they attack you immediately or only in a certain area in delvers row?

They attack immediately after going up the lift.

If I sneak past the first pirate, I do get the dialog.
Pirate: "State your business..."
Me: [Leave] ...
Pirate: "As wrong as it gets"
Pirate: Attack

My guess is you didn't get the quest to go down there.

That's why I specifically asked "Where is the river exit that the Lone survivor hinted at?"

if i remember correctly (i didnt had the quest either), there are 2 entrances to the undercroft.
if you enter from the right side, you can sneak to the woman in charge and a dialogue should trigger.

cant tell you where that 2nd entrance is tho ;)

I assume you mean the boat. Which isn't accessible if you understand the point I'm at.

I had this problem and finally figured out how to get away without burning any bridges or losing rep -, HOWEVER you had to first have both talked to the old man in the gutter about the missing food and found the corpse of the food smuggler in the Narrows. First, sneak to the rope to crawl across the water, then deliberately get caught by the guard, and demand to talk to his captain, then talk to the captain and tell him about the old man and the food smuggler being beaten to death, then vaguely agree to come back when you have the money she wants (so you don't really get locked into any agreement if you don't want to, though obviously you can pick others.) Nobody will go hostile any more, and the guards in delver's alley will merely tell you to bugger off (despite already being past them) instead of trying to kill you

Yep.. Seems like there's just a way to get stuck here.
I've already loaded a previous save from a couple hours ago, anyways.

left entrance = elevator (if i recall correctly), right entrance=somewhere from the ruins.
i could sneak from the ruins entrance all the way to the captain with a skill of 0 and without any distractions ... i was able to trigger a dialogue there without having the start quest and was free to explore afterwards.

alternatively, with the use of firecracker (w/e it is in english) it shouldnt be a big deal to get to the boat

Wait, there's something special to do with the boat? Thought he was just there as decoration.

What old man? What Narrows?

I follow a path where the game pushes you, beggar, missing food resource, talk to old man, try find an exit to the area, see a man banished to underground, talk to the woman, agree help her, go in old city to help, met a survivor, stay here more than an afternoon to help him, progress until reach pirates part.

And then an everybody hostile bug, very lame. If at least I had done some weird sequences or some sneaking to reach some parts, but nope not one.

Now there's a dialog option I don't have because of requirement, but it's lame stuck a player in an everybody hostile state, that's ridiculous.

Beta fixes nothing, sigh. I don't understand such design resulting in full area hostile, makes no sense.

Well, the small boat on right side of undercroft is a shortcut to the Queens Berth area, once unlocked you can go direct from QB to undercroft. Maybe that's what he means?

No boat if you come from Old City, it's probably more a shortcut from Queens Berth area so need be unlocked here.
