Is the contemplative any good ?
Hi everyone

I'm starting my second run. Like the first, I'm going to take Xoti as my healer. She was a priest in my first run and I saw that she can be a contemplative too, so monk/priest.

Is that good ? I never used multi class before and I'm doing an hard run.

Thanks

Priest casts are long and can be interupted easily, and monk needs to take dmg to have wounds.... Monk/priest not sure. But game is so easy any build will do, and I'm sure you can find sinergies across all classes. Not to metion from RP point of view monk/priest is kinda cool.

Frome beta monk/chanter (beckoner) was fun. Monk/druid as well. Being melee with those long casts is just not optimal.

Ok, thanks.

Then I guess, no contemplative for Xoti. But maybe she can be a monk instead of a priest. I never used a monk only before, can it heal a whole party alone ? Xoti is supposed to be my only healer.

monk doesnt heal at all, so I am going to go with a No on the solo healer for your party.

Well, it's clear then

It depends how you want to play it, monks can aquire wounds from other methods not just by taking damage but either by dealing damage in melee or just from being a crack addict, the crack addict can play as ranged dps/support, this is only available as the player character though

I used xoti as a monk/priest and she was a decent off tank support

I'm playing Xoti as priest + Monk. I am very pleased with her performance so far. She is very resiliant ands enemy AI tends not to target her that much as on paper she isn't that big a threat and is also very difficult to kill. Her monk half gives her a lot of HP etc and her monk abilities are extremely usefull in battle, she can knock foes down right, left and centre making them extra vulnerable, an ability which is also good defensively as she can just kick anything seriously threatening her away..

She's like a particularly nasty and very swift biting insect making a enourmous nuisance of hgerself as far as the enemy is concerned, extremely difficult to kill, giving a good account of herself on the front line in melee, and providing plenty of healing and buffing to boot. The big advantage of the monk mixin and the survivability it affords is that her priest AoE buffs that centre on her are almost always covering my other two front liners, Eder and Pallegina.

What difficulty are you playing on dude ?

Could be interesting to play her that way, it seems interesting

Been playing Xoti as a contemplative...she works just fine buffing/healing. She buffs my tank/dps and I have not had her long cast times on heals been a problem.

idk about pure contemplative but xotis version of it seems much stronger than just pure priest.

Contemplative works alright for Xoti.

She's somewhat spec'ed for it, considering Dex is her best Attribute score. I suspect Obsidian made it that high specifically with Contemplative in mind, to make her casting speed slightly more viable up close with enemies.

If role-play is important to you, then I argue that Contemplative fits her character background and personality moderately better than vanilla Priest.

Anything is better than solo priest IMO. Monk?pri is solid because she gets monk resources from killing with her sickle/lantern, has a bit more defense, and benefits from fast casts when her monk quickness is up, which it should always be. I don't like any of the premade characters except for Maia, so YMMV, but you don't really need a dedicated healer on POTD, second wind and secondary heals from lay on hands/auras/chants were fine. Almost every class has a solid heal to cover you, or an unkillable skill to keep you upright.
