Quick questions regarding the Independent route (spoilers)
Hiya, so am trying to avoid spoilers by looking this up in a walkthrough so asking it here. I have reached the point where I have to make a dangerous sea journey to reach some legendary lost island, and got 2 questions...

1) Does embarking on this sea voyage start the "end game"? It says by doing this quest deadfire as I know it will be no more but I don't know if this means that the map will transform and old quests will be replaced by new ones or if it's because I'll have beaten the game.

2) Does opting for the independent option and sailing by myself antagonize all the other factions?
I'm on good terms with all the major factions and would want to keep it that way. I view my watcher as being apolitical and who just tries to be as fair as he can in a given circumstance.
Is it possible to remain neutral this way or do I really have to pick a side lest the game thinks I want to fight everyone?

1) Once you get to your destination the game is essentially at an end.

2) I did the independent route and had to fight Furrante, but none of the other factions sent anyone or did anything. I was on good terms with all of them... though I did engage in whole sale slaughter of the slavers.

Is this point of return when you first get to Ashen Maw? Asking for a friend...

Thanks Niteonites, I will wrap up secondary quests and explore the map then ;)

Happy to know i ain't strongarmed into picking a side, will definitely sail solo.

No don't worry, Ashe Maw is the main quest before this final one, so feel free to do Ashen Maw at any time!
