I enjoy both games, though I wish this one had more challenge
Story-wise PoE2 much worse then Tyranny.
And opposite in gameplay (but only because Tyranny was so short, if it will be around 50-60 hours like PoE2 it will be better into everything over PoE2). IMHO ofk.
I just remember being so pissed off at the game after I was being loyal to the Overlord, bringing law and order to the land, exposing traitors and malcontents... and then suddenly out of the blue I rise up in rebellion against them. No warning, no reasoning, no explanations. Just did a complete 180 on my playthrough to that point. And that really killed it for me.
I was playing through being Soundwave, and suddenly I end up being Starscream.
Now, if I was actively working to my own ends the whole time, and had been choosing to build up power to rebel, that might have made sense. But I wasn't. I was following my orders and being loyal. So the complete switch just struck me as stupid and lazy writing.
I've not gone back, but I'm told you now have the option to actually be loyal, and make some actual decisions without the game just picking for you? If so, it might not be so bad. But that first playthrough was just terrible.
Yes. You can be loyal and you shout it from the spire for the whole land to hear. My second playthrough with the same character was so much better just cause they added a loyal to Kyros ending.
And same lazy writting here, in PoE2.
We're running to catch Eotas... to speak with him. All the time. Never ever try to search for some weapon or magic that can stand against this adra colossus, no speaking is enough (c).
And one ending to annoy them all (c).
P.S. And doing this in company of Eotas fanatics... Crazy enough to believe in false god even knowing that gods are fake (Eder) or this stupid priestess (Xoti).
How I should search for murderous maniac? Ofk in company of his best friends! >_<
This is what dampened my enjoyment as well. I really liked the intitial premise of the setting and story, but it all fell flat in the end, because your choices didn't matter at all.
