Bad voice acting?

I love critical role, but man does this game prove that voice actors should be actual good actors. The narrator, Xoti , Teheku, Pallegina, and most of the NPC' s are either really badly cast, or the audio director is completely deaf. It's genuinely like listening to some random 19 year old larping enthusiast reading his or her fan fiction lines out loud while their friends awkwardly shuffle on their seats. Whoever did the audio on this game, did a bad job, including the main theme.

Accents sound fake? It's a fantasy game with made up races, the voices can sound whatever.

Sure, but if you're going for a clear southern accent, make it sound real. Or are you saying they weren't going for that?

A narratot with a lisp isn't bad if you can still understand them ot can set the mood.

I still agree, her accent felt like something out of a cartoon than something you'd see inrl.

The quantity tho...there is.

Im pretty far in the game atm and I feel like its the same 5-10 voices cycling over and over (even though its more but subjective perception rules)

While i don't completely agree with him i also don't agree with you. Xoti is just bad. Way too thick of an accent which also seem ludicrously out of place in Deadfire seeing as NO ONE ELSE talks like that.

It feels like someone (travis) dared her to do that accent and she did it for s&g's.

Edit. Laury Baley is great most of the time but that accent man, she should never do that ever again.

I think some of the accents in the game are great, but ya not a fan of Xoti/ Laura Bailey and Ashley's narration. They both kinda take me out of the game, but it is what it is. Laura's voice is everywhere now, and I'm beginning to think she's spreading herself too thin. I did not think her voice/tone fit Supergirl in Injustice 2, nor did I like her as Nadine in Uncharted. Her accent was all over the place. Her accent in this is a little too hokey. Eh well, just my opinions.

I think the voice acting is pretty good, for the most part, but I'm also one of those people that thinks games like this don't need any voice acting, or the bare minimum (like Baldur's Gate). But then people are too lazy to read these days I guess.

I actually like the voices for the various NPC’s you meet. But some of the companions sound like they pulled someone off the street for it.

Yeah, it's pretty atrocious. Other than Xoti, nothing has really irritated me, though.

I agree with OP, besides Teheku he's amazing. On the plus side I found the pit you can bring the annoying ♥♥♥♥♥ to stab her, toss her down a hole and get a necklace that summons something from Skaen.

I'm still debating whether I finish her quest before kicking her down there or not. Pro tip if you're going to murder someone there, make sure it's only you and that person in the party or everyone else gets pissed when you come back without them.

There is no fighting involved either, like most stuff it's just clicking garbage text options.

Yeah, it's pretty atrocious. Other than Xoti, nothing has really irritated me, though.

I found Teheku annoying but not because of his voice, just his behaviour. You could be in dialogue with an woman and she'd be pouring her heart out to you explaining how her children are missing.... There's Teheku in the middle of your group prancing around doing his struts and poses. I'm just thinking "DUDE! calm down, relax a little, have some camomile tea and chill a little".

If you follow his personal quest you get to speak with his Goddess mother, she ends up wanting you to guide him in the right direction. I assume his personal quest will involve picking whether he stays a horny douche or grows up.

So far bringing him to the gutter/black market side stuff he's reacted to everything and has tons of dialog with many NPCs. While yes a lot of his pervert personalty can be grating for some I find his perverted jokes hilarious. Often finding myself loling (for real) at his random banter with my party and NPCs.

Taking him to the Wild Mare and talking to the inn keeper was quite enjoyable for one. The gutter was a culture shock to him. He was super sassy when I let him speak up for himself to the crime boss as well.

He's my favourite companion by far.
