Turn based mode for PoE 1?
I never played PoE 1 because the lack of true turn-based combat really turned me off. If I now get PoE1, the addons, and PoE2 all at once, will turn-based mode be available for PoE1, or is that only for PoE2? If it's still only available for PoE2, is PoE2 sell-contained enough to enjoy without having played any of the previous content?

There's a bunch of times in PoE2 where NPCs will refer to things you've done in PoE1 (if you haven't played it, at the start you'll get to chose a "path" to sum up what you would have done in it).

But it's mostly self contained. I haven't played PoE1 (or rather, I did, for a couple of hours, then quit because real time with pause got on my nerves), and I'm still enjoying myself a lot with PoE2.

Im really into turn based tactic game ala FF series and Front mission, so having a turn based mode would be awesome for people like us, but I don't think they will do it. Depending on your computer or the gpu, i hear the optimization is really bad, so I am going to wait and play the first games dlc. You can pause the game so that it plays more like KOTOR, but its not the same as turn based. If I were you I would try to get POE 1 for cheap and play that . It truly is a great game with really great side quests, amazing picturesque visuals and an interesting world that doesn't look like it at first but after you peel off that surface there is a huge and very satisfying game underneath. A decent class based ability system and a really unique leveling system in how you accumulate xp. Who knows maybe by the time you beat the game the third one will be out.

Do you really enjoy PoE II turn based mode? FFT and Tactics Ogre are some of my favorite games ever and I find that I absolutely loathe turn based in PoE II.

So much is lacking in PoE II turn based, and it's frustrating that they didn't listen to player feedback. Player and enemy positions aren't fixed, so everything and everyone is pushed and prodded in multiple directions making tactical decisions difficult. They didn't rebalance the encounters, specifically enemy health and the number of enemies, making even the easiest fights a slog to get through (on PotD at least). With turn based you can do so much with directional orientation of the characters to enhance tactics (more damage from the sides, back, etc), but no effort was made to incorporate any additional systems that weren't in the RTwP system. And so on.

Very disappointed as I really love turn based games, and I'd rather not play with RtwP as Pathfinder is a much better RtwP game.
do you know any turn based tactics games with pvp that are good?

You can only push allies if they have movement left (ie didn't use up all of theirs) . Enemies can't push past your allies regardless.

I sure would like turn based update for PoE 1.

I loved the game, but i found combat chaotic, and micromanagement was way too heavy.
I usualy love micro management with active pause if done right (Dragon Age Origins).
But There was something off in PoE 1.
Maybe because you had to face too many ennemies at once, and they became suepr strong in PotD, and you had 6 members to use at the same time who all had many skills to use.
I remember I was a bit lost in the priest skills, and you don't always notice the benefit of each one in the heat of battles
And on top of that battle speed was way too high, I was always playing on the lowest one.
Everything is here to make fights look like a mess.

But I seriously doubt they'd go back to PoE 1, that would be useless waist of time and ressource from the devs and editor.
I think PoE 2 tun based mode was something experimental to prepare for PoE 3 or their next RPG hopefully, that could be turn based as well.
