*raises eye brow* cannot be that hard? Surely you jest my good sir/madam
Briggs May 10, 2019 @ 10:17am
No. It wouldn't be hard since they are already working on a console port. However the lead dev as repeatedly spoken out against controller support.

Also, more importantly. 5.0 is the last patch. We'll get fixes, but not features.

Controller for this game would be dumbed-down interface, most DON'T want that. This isn't an action game.

A third party is doing the console port and not Obsidian.

From Obsidian Discord Server May 8, 2019 at 10:16 am

Dan (Marketing):

"Yessir - Versus Evil is handling that with a partner. Port's not done yet, but it's definitely happening. Threw an approval for box art yesterday."

"No official date yet, sorry."

When I was 12 or so I lost three of my fingers on my left hand from middle down over from a lumber roller. I am very proficient in typing, and can play wow as good as anyone, as well as most any PC game. But I will admit, I really love a controller sometimes just for the simplicity and time wasted remapping certain controls. Sometimes controllers are just more relaxing as you do not have to take a traditional 'office body posture' and can just recline back and get comfortable.

If controller support was possible without adding a lot of cost, I really wish they would. Or if Steam somehow had a overlay that worked. I also hate the steam controllers and prefer PC controllers you can find on Amazon.

The OPTION for controller support has become the standard in the game industry. This old, boomer mentality of "USE KEYBOARD AND MOUSE BECAUSE THATS HOW I LIKE IT AND YOU'RE AN IDIOT IF YOU PREFER ANYTHING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT I HAPPEN TO LIKE" is obsolete and outdated. Not everyone can even properly use key/ mouse - there are gamers with disabilities who should be accommodated. It really is not too much to ask - plenty of devs go back and add it for older games and again, by this point in time it is an expected STANDARD feature to give people more options.

For anyone looking for controller support - I suggest reWASD. I paid like $20 for it, and it has been worth it over the years - especially because I have a ps4 controller and an xbox controller and it enables me to remap them both as either ps4 or xbox controllers in order to easily play local coop with my nephews. Here is a config I'm about to use - https://www.rewasd.com/community/config/pillars-of-eternity-2-controller-support/931fa51cc9ff62a90ff042008920d6b7
This has nothing to do with "boomers," :steamfacepalm: you realize that is like people in their 80s, right? These types of games are designed for mouse/keyboard and function better with the extra buttons. Limiting the amount of buttons in a game like this is just stupid.

Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2, Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Wasteland 1,2,3 all have controller support with games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Solasta likely to receive support by the time they leave early access.
Even some of the older games like Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and Planescape Torment are on consoles and play fine with a controller.

The two Pillars games on PC really stand out as the only new CRPGs that don't have integrated controller support.

More and more often we are seeing games adding accessibility options with some devs winning awards for doing so. Hopefully it will soon become standard in every game. Very sad to see players, for no reason, arguing against including these options. It won't affect your experience at all, yet it can make all the difference to someone who is physically limited.

Snip.

You even quoted the same post twice, like, why am I supposed to take you seriously? You cant even quote me right let alone bring a proper argument to why you're right.

Nah mate, you escalated it by being a capslock rageboy, not the other way around, its not about who insulted who first, its about you creating the tension first by craving that your opinion is right and just and that you are the end all be all to this entire argument, the sooner you understand how conversations work the better.

Nobody is whining or crying here but you, you seem really on edge, so I would make the statement that you're actually the one that's butthurt, its just so funny to watch the projection going on, why would I whine when you are such a clown, its just funny.

But yeah, I'm pretty pathetic, just a top 1% gamer in every single game I've ever played, built my own computer and everything, been playing games for over 30 years and I completed games without even knowing its language when I was 5 years old, I speak fluent english since I was 10 even though I'm not even american or from the UK, I sit on my ass all day and rake in the cash while you're just a peasant rageboy that have to work for a living, how pathetic and petty is that, have some standards.

The hypocrite calling others hypocritical, its just atrocious behavior, I mean cmon, cant you see yourself typing? You're just a sad existance.

"He did it first, so I can do it too!" Are you a child? What? ooof.

Yeah, say that to the police, that'll work. "He stole something first! so its ok if I steal!"

You are a twisted child if you think that's how rules work.

“ you have severe mental disabilities”
"“ even a ret@rd wouldn't play Pillars of Eternity with a controller.”

That wasn't even me, AHHAHAHA! way to go champ, truly inspiring, and you talk to ME about Self-Awareness? tries to school me on grammar when you cant even quote me right, you even get the wrong person involved, HAHA!

You're just grabbing at straws right now to find some sort of ground to stand on, its hilarious, how amazingly sad, what a trooper.

I'm done with you, it was fun, but now you bore me, I wont be responding to this again, better luck next time, Mr.Big. :steamsalty:

Dude you were butthurt because I mentioned boomers - then you turned around and called me a "zoomer" - which was the first instance of hypocrisy.

Actually, NecroTroll, that was me who was initially *sigh* "butthurt..." I was merely correcting you because you don't understand what a "baby boomer" is (hint: it's not every person you think is older than you.) The people you call boomers are all millennials... It's just a personal pet peeve of mine when people are so ignorant.

Did we just eliminate Generation X haha?

Grim Dawn, Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, Divinity II are all isometric ARPG's with amazing controller support I know prefer to K+M. Ven Helsing uses item wheels that use both analogue sticks to navigate. I got Van Helsing for $5 on sale.

I just don't get the people who make excuses for devs. I'm not buying this game until it has proper controller support. And since devs are so shiftless and lazy and narrow-minded and have so much cover from shills I'll never be buying it.

Then you won't get to experience this awesome game, which plays much better with keyboard and mouse than a wheel-based controller system would.

These are getting close to the "No Portuguese, no buy!" arguments. Developers can't fill every little gamer niche, and a controller system for an ISO RPG appeals to a small niche of gamers.

They don't know what they are talking about.

Besides - the Devs for this game already made an official Controller map for the game and it works perfectly - which absolutely proves them wrong about it being too difficult for Devs and it being "unplayable" or whatever backwards drivel they are pushing.

Wasteland 3 just came out not that long ago - what does it have? Official controller support.

What do most players on steam use to play games? Think its Keyboard and Mouse? Nope. Controllers (depending on the game, but overall its controllers).

And then theres the argument that "it plays better with keyboard and mouse" which is obviously completely and entirely subjective. So another baseless argument there too.
