wth is Sign of Pain?

So the Engwithan Saints / Xakoras are casting something called 'Sign of Pain'. I can't find a reference to this anywhere on the internet but it seems to make them invulnerable for several rounds, and it takes no action to do (they just 'activate' it instantly. They also have something called 'Spirit Well' which I also can't find, and seems to do massive amounts of damage to anyone around them.

Were these added in a recent patch?

I have all level scaling on, playing on veteran / turn based, and Xakoras and his minions are wiping the floor with me, even though I've cleared everything else in the Waystation.
