Started a turn based game - combat bugs
Have started my first POE2 game with turn based mode. Thought it was going ok till I got in my first ship fight.

Leaving aside the issue that the enemy crew I killed before boarding didn't affect the size or toughness of the enemy force at all....

Serafan starts with a blunderbuss in one hand and an axe in the other. He never fired the blunderbuss when adjacent to an enemy, even when I use the Full Attack barb ability, forget the name, for a bold attack or something. (He never fired it at range either.) Does melee/gun just not work?

I did a "copy/clone" on Serafan's axe and put the copy in weapon set 3 with a shield. During the battle, the game would not let me switch to this weapon set. Bug with copied weapons? With weapon set 3? I could switch to Set 2 which had two pistols.

Eder was engaged with three enemies. The middle one was back a little bit and wounded. I decided to try to finish him off. When I hovered the cursor over the target, there was a normal attack percentage (using sword). But when I selected Crippling Strike and hovered over the target, the game plotted a movement path instead to get behind the target, which would have broken engagement with all three enemies if I had clicked. It was acting like Crippling Strike couldn't reach him in melee (but the sword could). Bug?

Thanks for any insights.

There's some kind of optimal range in effect with sword-and-gun builds. Seems like won't fire the gun/wand/scepter if it would be faster and more accurate to use their melee weapon, but if they're far enough away, they will reload and keep shooting. I'm basing this on my main, who used a pistol and rapier through most of the game.

Not sure about any problems with weapon sets past the first two. Turn-based mode does seem like it introduced some new bugs, I haven't tried it much.

With Serafen I found it was better to just have him dual wield two blunderbusses and two melee weapons. Fire the two guns at the beginning, brace of pistols-style, then close to melee.

Seems odd I can fire two pistols in melee but can't fire one and swing the axe with the other hand. Wish they would spell this stuff out more.

I found melee/ ranged dual wield combo just simply only does one or the other, melee when you're in melee range and ranged when you're not, and it seems intended. The trade off is that you can either use ranged or melee without losing an action to change weapons between them, at the cost of getting dual wielding penalties instead of the increased accuracy you'd get from a single weapon which you'd benefit from if you used the action to change your weapon.
