Chance & Circumstance Testing

Hi everyone,

As those who have read the announcement released just now, we've put up a Beta build with the Chance & Circumstance mission system for open testing.

Activating it is simple: go to your Steam Library, right-click on "Terroir" in your games list, click on Properties, then proceed to the "Betas" tab. Select "openbetas" in the drop-down menu, and you're all set!

Please use this thread for reporting any bugs, errors, glitches and other comments. Do keep the discussions strictly related to the C&C system -- for all other suggestions and reports, we've got the "Suggestions" thread for that. For bug reporting, please refer to the sticky thread about reporting issues.

Good luck, and we hope you enjoy it! Now that the mission system is in place, we'll be introducing more missions and random events in the future!

To activate the C&C box, you need to get a 5-star review for any wine (any tier of wine critics). Once you get a 5-star review, the C&C box icon becomes active. The reviews don't stack -- meaning if you get two 5-star reviews for two different wines in the same year, you don't get two chances to open the box, just one.

Just noticed there's a bug in the "leper colony fundraiser" event where the place name of the leper colony doesn't populate.

Where did you see it? Was it in a particular dialogue box? If you can replicate it, we'd really love a screenshot!

Hello Mark and Jenny,
I have tried to play the Terroir on Mac for couple of hours and I have backrupt every time.
I was not able to raise ripennes for couple of years, the number of bottles were every time the same (240). Also The Chance & Circumstance function on version 1.08 is not working - its desibled all time. I feel the MacOS version is unplayable filled with bugs.

On the other hand. The windows version works and I made 5star wine for the first time with 960bottles. Also I manage to use chance card and get 30% of purchasing next land - yeay!

Another anoing bug that I have found is that speeds resets to normal every time I open some option or menu even if I want to go fullspeed ahead.

ps. in the Bank option, there should be always visible the max number of funds I can withdraw so I dont need to calculate it every time.

pss. you have hint option in place so why not using it on renown and ripeness and chance.

Could you do us a favor and try to replicate the bug and grab us a screenshot? The place name isn't actually populated separately, so we're scratching our heads over this one. See if you could get us that screenshot and we'll get on it asap.

Hi Pavel,

I think you may just have had some bad luck with your playthrough -- the Mac and Windows version are exactly the same, so the probability models are calculated the exact same way.

When you say the MacOS version is "unplayable and filled with bugs", you're going to have to be more specific with your feedback (if you would like to detail your feedback, please post it in the "Suggestions" thread as we'd like to keep this thread only about the C&C beta version.

As for the Chance and Circumstance, is the button disabled because you haven't gotten a 5-star wine rating? The button only activates after you get a 5-star rating. Try that and let us know how that goes.

Ok, I think that should be explained somewhere somehow, but I dont feel thats good solution. Mabye it should be more often like every year or so.

Also as somebody mention earlier, I would love to see more difficulty options. Right know it is killing me.

I got the "Wine in the time of war" card on my very first time, so my vineyard was not equiped to produce that much wine to give away. However, after three years, the option to donate the wine was gone from the market, but clicking on the chest still only shows the "Wine in the time of war" dialog (and I've gotten a 5 star wine since). Is this a glitch or am I just missing something?

Just out of curiosity, even after 4 years, is the dialogue still the same? If it is, it's certainly a bug -- we'll take a deeper look once you get back to us.
