Difference between Trim Foliage and Optimize Foliage?
I spent 25 renown to unlock optimize foliage but all it really is is trimming heavy foliage right? Or am I missing something. Sidenote, the description said it would optimize in 2 seconds but mine seems to take closer to 6 seconds. Any explanation on that?

It may be 2 seconds per tile of said varietal. And yes, it optimizes foliage from heavy.

Hi taylorenokson,

Yes, the difference is very subtle, but it is quite important depending on your foliage situation. Say you had 4 tiles with vines -- 2 heavy and 3 optimal. The way Ripeness works is that it takes the average Foliage of particular varietal, so that 2 heavy and 3 optimal is treated as optimal overall. If you used Trim Foliage, your 2 heavy and 3 optimal turns into 2 optimal and 3 light -- that means your varietal's average foliage is now light. That means if the next weather pattern is sunny skies, your varietal's Ripeness increases by 1.

However, if you use Optime Foliage, your 2 heavy and 3 optimal turn into 5 optimal (this action only affects vines that have heavy foliage, unlike Trim Foliage which affects all) -- that means that if the next weather pattern is sunny skies, your Ripeness stays the same.

I hope this helps.

Actually, you broke this in the 1.05 patch (in a game started in 1.04). Optimize now trims below Optimal folliage for some reason. It's basically become Trim Foliage, which with the massive speedups you put in, thank you a million btw, it's unnecessary because Trim now handles 3 varieties effectively even with 6+ fields each.
