Crash, no error window?

My game is crashing during the intro scene where it gets close up on the eyes of the dude in the boat. Without hesitation the game closes. No freeze. No error message. No window of any kind pops up. The game just closes. I've tried three times. I'm going to try uninstall and reinstall... hopefully that works.

Has anyone else experienced this? I saw that some people were crashing in Act 4 but I can't even get to any game play. I'll update this if the reinstall works but I don't see that being the solution.

**skipping the scene works** I'm hoping that I don't have to skip all of them, but we'll see.

***Skipping the scene did NOT work loading Chapter 2 but I DID find a solution. I just went to the Sierra Launcher (.exe file) right click to properties, click "compatibility", change the mode the Windows XP, run 16 bit and the original game resolution of 640 x 480. So far it's all good. I can watch the scenes, loading is fine, no pink "shadows".

Betrayal in Antara? I believe that is a common issue for everyone. Steam version of the game crashes during some intros on the chapter beginning. The only way is to skip them and to watch them on Youtube, that is what I did :(

I fixed it, as far as I can tell. I updated it a couple days ago so it might possibly help someone else.

Sorry about that, bud! Try some different settings, it took me about 3 hours altogether to find one that worked for my pc. You'd think they'd make it a bit easier to play. :C

How do you even skip scenes? Getting the crash when it zooms in on the guys eyes in the game opening..

That was exactly where I was crashing. After I changed the compatibility and all that, it works just fine. But then Outrider said it didn't work for him. I recommend trying the "fixes" individually. Those were all separate fixes I found online and tried out combinations until it worked for me.

Edit the RESOURCE.WIN file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Betrayal Collection\Betrayal in Antara (or wherever your install is)

Set "cacheSize1=600" and "cacheSize3=100" and useDirectSound=FALSE

I also set compatibility mode to XP from a previous attempt to fix the issue; not sure if that's important or not.
