Can't ever seem to find all loot (and looking for it is really tedious)
I've scoured maps looking for loot hoses I've missed and often can't find them. Are there lot of bugs in this game or does some loot not light up? Thanks. Btw anyone else think finding Intel and loot just drawdown missions and is boring?

It's all highlighted, some lockers have multiple items. Some's harder to spot than others, usually need to spin the view for at least a couple.

You don't need to find all (or any) of them if you don't want to, your comms intercepts and informers will eventually get you contacts that allow you to just buy gear (random what unlocks though).

This^ plus make sure to check roofs and outlying buildings & guard shacks too. If it's tedious for you, don't do it.

Agreed. I would rather have an "intercept shipment" mission for those.

They put stuff on rooftops? Learn something new every day.

They made secret documents a harder to find in a patch. They don't go to stage 2 highlight until you can eyeball them (you can eyeball them with spotters I think). However my tips for easier loot location are:

* Swivel the camera 360 when searching a room - it is really easy to miss cabinets etc hiding in corners you can't see from one angle or another.

* Don't forget roof tops. Often when you can't find the last loot it's on top of a garage or something.

* Also inside garages, outhouses, sheds and stuff.

* Secret documents lying on tablers etc that you can't eyeball directly (still in stage 1 highlight) can be very tricky to spot if they are under a strong direct light source as it drowns out the measly stage 1 highlight. This is often why you can't find that last bloody document in my experience but once you realise this you can spot documents like this and check them out. (helps to turn down the brightness on your monitor too)

It's not just secrets documents, it seems more general, like in more hidden places. I also quoted types I hadn't noticed before, like computer. So there's new items types to identify, they all have a flashing but it's often very discrete. But you get more used to spot them with more experience.

First, always do Area Recon unless you absolutely cannot wait. That will remove the fog of war over the map and let you see where everything is more easily. Other than that, spinning the camera around a room helps. I wish the intel items flashed yellow or something more distinctive...

Usually I just send my disguised agent around to disable cameras and pick up intel and have my other dudes carry out the mission, if you path it correctly then they usually finish around the same time. If you get detected, don't worry about the items and just get your people out alive. They are worth more than a document or item drop.

In the big picture though, it's not necessary to pick up every item. It's helpful, but there's other ways to get intel, especially later on (comms shop, interrogations, infiltrate cell).

Agreed. I've had times where I've had to spend 20-30+ minutes just turning the map etc. to find loot. Sometimes before I've deployed agents. It's a super tedious and draining part of the game, when it really shouldn't be. It should be fast, easy, and intuitive.

What's worse, some visible loot locations on the map can contain/account for multiple items, which just overcomplicates things even further and adds to further tedium. You think you're looking for 5 distinct and separate loot locations when the 5 are, in actuality, spread over 3 loot containers. Or something. Ugh. Talk about a frustrating exercise.

I've actually considered stopping playing this game until loot gets easier to identify (and yes, I do recon etc.). Looking for loot is super infuriating.

I hope a patch or a workshop mod addresses this.

Honestly, they should make the loot glow more pronounced and pierce walls, so you don't have to 360 the camera in every single room on every single floor. That's of course assuming you did recon first, if you're going in blind, you're going in blind.

I can't imagine what the Devs were thinking when they made intel harder to see in that patch. Why would they do that? It serves no point, since you can see it eventually anyway. The game is already murky looking as it is. If anything, they should have made everything brighter. I guess they think it's fun spinning the map...

Another good example of pointless tedium in this game. If something is marked/visible, it should be readily visible without having to hunt all over for it.
Dorok Sep 10, 2018 @ 12:00pm
Well make them too obvious isn't much better, collect things under your eyes is lego games gameplay, and it's parts of gameplay done for 4 years old children.

You can also not collect them all.

I'd just as soon see the trope of finding loot (in containers or otherwise) go away entirely.

But if it's part of the game, what is the point of making them only slightly visible besides inducing eyestrain? Early in the game, you can't really afford to pass up the opportunity for things like silencers and additonal intel.
Dorok Sep 10, 2018 @ 11:50pm
You can pass up on intel.

If it's too visible it requires no effort, but ok the problem is a balance working for all, and some players that cannot not grab all the loot, and the game showing the max objective.

Remember the good 'ol times when loot/items were not highlighted in games at all? That's of course back in the day when things like achievements didn't exist either :steamhappy: I think it was also common to not list how many items were available in a level any way. I like those times, because the incentive nowadays to collect everything is (for many) hard to resist.
