laser beams
On my first playthrough, found a map with more than 1-2 laser beams, almost every door is blocked by them.

So instead of walking through the door my disguised agent crashes into the room through a window, flirts with the armed guard in there then smashes her way back out of the room via another window, on her way to break into the next room through its window instead of using the door.

Luckily the guards understand the need for this and don't comment. It does though feel slightly unorthodox. Am I doing this wrong?

Lasers still raise the alarm even if your agent is disguised, that's why your agent avoided them.
There should be an option to "always use shortest path", if you disable that, you have finer control over the path your agents use. (Even though I think there is no other way in your scenario).

There should also be some kind of generator that powers the laser barriers, so you could deactivate them, then have your agent use the proper door. ;)

Oh, I was telling my agent to use the windows precisely because breaking the beams would trigger them. She was indeed heading to the room with the power source so that she could disable them.

It's just just so incongruous.
