Please add option to remove voices when character is selected.
I mean the voices like "Hello" "What up" "Need me?" and so on. I find them distracting and immersion-breaking.

I don't mind voices for other things, but not every time a character is selected.

The agent voices, frankly, are terrible. I just set all of them to Professional because the rest annoy me too much. Nothing against the voice actors themselves, they're hard working folks, the clips just don't fit the tone of the rest of the game.

yeah imagine 4 guys cursing every turn on one mission...game just crapped out on me on chapter 2 after rescuing Omicron, so trying to figure what the deal is. files all fine, something cause the main map to go completly blank...Nothing on my end.
But I hear ya, Also only six voices to chose from not helping. The game to me was underdeveloped in the modeling and character perks.

Voice acting is a costly process especially when you pull in the best talent, so I get it if a non-AAA title has bad voices. Hopefully they invest in more voices with perhaps more accents or even XCOM-style where there's a lot of people who speak no English, which is pretty fitting considering many of your agents are from outside the US/UK.

Look not looking to argue its off the topic.
No its not that expensive. I just worked for one company that did 50 voices for a game in one day. They used their staff to have fun with it.
You can do it yourself practically now. Its not that expensive a process sorry. It depends if you go union and use actual voice actors, then yes it can get pricey, but most actually use inhouse personel. Mostly licensed games do that and its usually a combination of both. for example if you do a Star Wars game, your going to use Mark Hamill, or Harrison Ford, and maybe some staff to do minor roles. Star Trek is another example, your doing DS9, your getting those actors and your own staff to have fun. Even prolific impersonators like an Andre' Sogluzo or Kim Novac who are well known in gaming.
The game si probably going to have a mod section where you can add your own variety of voices. Its the copyright issues that now are facing X-com Firaxis as hollywoods attorneys, WB and Disn took notice of the massive use of their voices without permission recently. I am no epxert on that outcome, but I am sure that does play a factor in future endeavors in gaming. Cannot be using copyright protected materila without permission. Especially is a company profits from the sale of a product. X-com 2 has been using voice packs from a variety of shows.
We will see how that all turns out.

That all being said, PD has alot it can improve on, voices included.

Let me correct something-This was the statement from the attorneys going after Firaxis

"Nobody has a right to a specific voice, otherwise many people would have to go mute for their entire lives. Also impersonators would be banned legally. There is not copyright or trademark right to a voice.
Having said that phrases associated with characters, real or fictional, may be legally protected. So long as you do not mix the two, you can say what you want with any voice you want. Do not make any reference to any character, and do not associate the voice with anyone."

So we will see where that all goes. That may not be resolved for a long time.

I don't think the voices are that bad, like I said I don't mind them in the rest of the game. But in the missions, having them reply every time you select is silly. I don't know why every tactical game has to have that bloody feature, ever since the days of Starcraft...

I think you had 20 voices with a variety of espressions. Then no beef. Game just needs more of them is all and the option to have none for a character too.

Of course you can do it cheaply, but doing it right is expensive, as you basically pointed out. The difference in quality is massive.

I agree being able to turn off the acknowlegements when you select a toon would be nice to have.

I thought the voices were well recorded and sounded "beleivable." The problem is there are not nearly enough different personalities. Most of them were actively annoying. And even within the tolerable personalities there are not enough different phrases. It quickly gets very repetitive.

I was so happy when I found that I could change the personality under the customize agent feature. At least then I wasn't being called a mo-fo every 2 minutes. Maybe the devs, who I assume are not native English speakers, do not realize that calling somebody that in real life is likely to start a fist-fight.

Agreed.
Every time I click on this guy, he keeps saying, "What you do want mutherf****ker?"
It was funny the first couple times, but becomes annoyingly repetitive.

It quickly gets very repetitive.

Yep. I don't mind the voices or the quality of the actors, it just gets old quickly.
