I only found Kingfish, Peacock this far. There is also Sunspot who is always captured (by event) and Tai-Pan who is a quest. They all have 3 secret perks. Dunno if there is any other agent beside them.
Probably it worth to get a list.
as far as converting, i converted a couple, and they became my agents. i love that part of the game very much.
I'm on the KGB campaign, and the first agent I came across is Snowcat at the end of chapter 1. Those names aren't familiar to me (other than Kingfish), so I'm guessing those are from the CIA campaign?
Sunspot is automatically captured (captured in the strategic layer, no tactical mission needed) as you progress in the main story and youhave to capture Taipam alive in a mission.
You can convert Sunspot like any other agent but I don't think Taipan ever rejoins you as he never shows up in a mission after you release him. Story dialogue suggests he's more useful to you as an informant.
Not sure if its WAD, but you can exceed the agent limit if enemy agents join during a mission (via control phrase). This is why most gamers use the control phrase option and don't bother with straightup conversion.
Regarding Snowcat, I didn't know he could even be captured. After I used take down on him he just died, no bleed out timer and no option to pick him up; only option is to dispose of his body.
I only used Takedown on Snowcat and he still died immediately. Its like he was tagged as a normal guard instead of an agent.
Whoops. I meant not using Takedown on him and trying to grab him on a later mission if he's still kicking around.
Aguirre at least is not meant to survive the morgue mission, story dialogue after that mission always refer to him dying in there. No idea about Snowcat, he's just never mentioned in the story again after his appearance.
