Distraction - What determines if you will have it or not?
Sometimes members of my teams have it, sometimes not, What determines this?

In the US Embassy in Stockholm ATM and have two soldiers facing each other, not patroling and the last loot crate is in view of one of them. Neither of my operatives has distraction so unless I start combat, going to have to leave it behind.

So is it just random or is there something I can do to influence gettting the temp ability on missions?

When you are doing your loadout for a mission, on the top left it will say the location and language for the mission. If you deploy an agent who speaks that language they will have the Distraction ability for that mission.

However, I've used the abiliity twice and nothing happened so I'm not sure what the deal is with that.

I believe it's based on what language your agents speak. I think the game tells you if they will have the ability when you're picking which agents to send on the mission.

I believe it only changes where your target is looking, but i'm not sure.

OK, so language is the answer I was looking for. Thanks.

It works fine, but it's short range amd you have to be in line of sight. The operative will snap their fingers and those in range will turn and look at them.

Edit: Just finished the mission and checked the spoken languages of the operatives. One had English & Cantonese, the other was French. So looks like that mission is bugged or for some reason distraction is disabled on it. /shrug

Or maybe that language isn't supported for distraction on Stockholm?

US Embassy, what do you think they speak in there? Walk in to one anywhere in the world and dun dun dun,,,They speak english. It's a minor bug and not a big deal.

I think the name of the map/mission doesn't matter, the location is all that matters.

^ this.

I was speaking in-game logic.

ofc logically speaking if distraction is a matter of snapping your fingers, does language really matters

To make it clear, on the top left of the loadout screen (when you get ready to start the mission) it shows the location and the language(s) of the location. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198032174254/screenshot/958591416734790637

If you were also going to replace the agent, if they speak a language compatible with the region, then in the Language info on the agent's dossier will be highlighted green.

Though having multi-language on the regions on the other hand .... now that's something I'd be interested to see.
