how to understand end-of-level stats
Hi, this may be dumb, but I dont understand. The statistics at the end of the level consist of three graphs. The black line is our result, but what is the Y axis? What do the rectangles in the background mean? Is it an average score of other players? I do not know :)

From memory, it's a frequency histogram showing how many players globally got into each score bracket. So the Y axis is 'number of other players'.

sbszine is correct - it's a Histogram (read the Wikipedia page to learn more).

However, there is one super important thing to understand about histograms:

on the X axis, you have some minimum and maximum values printed. However, these values are deliberately "nice" values, not necessarily the actual MINIMUM or MAXIMUM (achieved by some player).
So, let's say there is a puzzle where the fastest solution is 13 cycles. The histogram could show the left-most bar starting at 10 cycles, leading some to believe that the fastest solution is 10 cycles, when it's not.
