Sound popping and speed fluxuations.
So I saw we had a couple posts here, but I wanted to give as much detail about my specific issue as possible because so far none of the other discussions seem to be directly related to mine.

When I first started the game, there was a very noticeable tapping or popping sound in the music, which I originally mistook as just being a sort of electronic spin on the otherwise new age-ish track. But I found it annoying and it even existed even in silent parts of the tracks.

What really took me was when I noticed that the tracks would also seem to speed up or slow down, almost as though they were bound to an inconsistent framerate. Now mind you, my performance is otherwise perfect and the sound effects don't seem to have any issues at all.

So what have I tried?
1: I switched my default sound device from my internal sound card to my USB headset to see if the issue persisted. It did, albeit perhaps a bit less severe, but I didn't test it long enough to hear for sure.

2: I tried running Lightning.exe (the game itself) in Windows 7 Mode. Not only did it not make a difference, it seemed to make it works - but take that with a grain of salt, it could just be me listening for improvement and hearing none.

3: Restarting my computer. I know this should be the first thing to do, but I was confident it wouldn't work, but did it just to say I did. And as I expected, it didn't work.

4: I verified the games contents. Again, should have done it earlier but it was a fresh download so I didn't think it would do anything. And again, as expected, it didn't work.

5: Completely uninstalled my internal sound card drivers, deleted them, and restarted, reinstalled them, absolutely no improvement at all.

6: Disabled and enabled spatial sound. (Windows 10) No improvements on either front.

7: Adjusted the format from 16 bit, 48000 Hz to 16 bit 88200 Hz. No improvement, but it's fixed weird sound issues in the past, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Once again, no change.

Just about the ONLY thing that seemed to temporarily improve it was switching my default playback device from anything else, then switching it back to my internal sound card. But it was very much a temporary fix as the sound would still occasionally pop and the frequency would quickly become intolerable again.

The only way I can even play the game is to completely turn off the music and play other music in the background as it's gotten that annoying.

Some specs:
Sound Blaster Audigy
Windows 10 Original Anniversary Update
Samsung 850 Pro SSD (I know this can influence media streaming performance in games.)
Nvidia GTX 970 (To reassure that performance isn't an issue.)
AMD FX 8350 (To reassure that performance isn't an issue.)
8GB of RAM (To reassure that performance isn't an issue.)
