Bugs: progress didn't save and stuck after chapter 1

I just started the game today so I'm not sure if the first part of this bug is relevant, but 1: this morning I beat chapters 1 and 2, but when I came home this afternoon, I had to start over at chapter 1! And, even worse, after beating chapter 1 again (twice) I still haven't unlocked chapter 2. I *did* try to open the steam web browser while in game (to see if anyone else had had this bug), but that's the only thing I can think I did differently between the two game sessions. It seems like a really cool game, and I'm trying to avoid spoilers so please don't spoil anything if you can help it! Thank you!

The developers are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ who harass customers and have no contact for bugs or anything.

Hi there - sorry to hear you are having issues. It sounds like there might be a sync issue between the steam cloud save and the local save. Do you know if you had lost internet connection at any point while playing, or playing offline?

I don't think so... On starting the game up, Steam didn't say anything about noticing a difference between steam cloud and local data either, which is usually the case with other games (but it's your game, so, I mean, I don't know if your game does that haha)

just got this bug today, got the game because it was $2 and I can't progress from chapter 1, just kicks me to the credits and gets stuck, doesn't give me the achievements either

Same here. Played in one session right up into chapter 4, next day went back and only first one is unlocked. Even trying to unlock all in settings does nothing.
When I replay Ch1 and then want to exit to main menu, the button (exit do main menu) also does nothing any more.
Reinstalled the game, deleted local Steam files first, nothing worked.

Did install the GOG version of the game, unlocked all episodes in it. Then also installed the Steam version and noticed that now all episodes were unlocked. So went back to
(and was able) to finish the game on Steam (just did not get all the trading cards, but received all achievements ).
