Resolution Scaling option(?)
would be nice to have an option to scale the game's internal rendering resolution ... it already runs comfortably at 60fps at all times (at 1080p) so it would be nice if we had an option to go beyond 100% ... is there a chance we might get something like that added in a patch?

What is the max possible resolution the game can output?
Ever tried your graphics card feature like Nvidia's DSR or AMD's VSR?
I can try it when the hotfix is out (because of the loading screen bug).

i'm fairly sure it can do 4k ... maybe even more ... but the thing is - DSR only works in fullscreen, and i never play games in fullscreen mode ... resolution scaling, on the other hand, works in all cases, fullscreen or not

Thats right.
I have no problem playing in fullscreen, but I don't think such a feature will come to the game.
It's a quiet rare feature, I only know ETS2 and ATS which have such an option.

But sure it would be great.

actually - lots of new games have that feature ... and it's also pretty easy to implement in UE4 (which this game runs on) ... so here's hoping

Alternatively you could try to make a custom resolution using CRU and use that, combined with GPU scaling:

https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU

Also, DSR may work in windowed borderless mode, but whether the game will display its UI correctly depends on games.

like i said - i don't use fullscreen ... or borderless windowed ... i just use regular windowed mode because i need to see what's going on "around" the game ... that's the problem i have ... and custom resolutions or DSR won't solve it

well, i mean - it's not exactly a problem .... i just said it would be nice to have an option like that ... not like i can't play the game at all ... just a suggestion

thanks to the patch I can play again now and have testet DSR.
It's kinda work, but I have the issue, that, even with a controller, can't select any of the last 2 menu entries. In-game and -menu. This is a common issue with DSR.
So for me it's not worth it.

But in a config file I found this:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\gravel\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor GameUserSettings.ini

[ScalabilityGroups] sg.ResolutionQuality=100.000000

Could this be edited to go highter than 100 ?? (percent - I presume)

unfortunately that's not it ... it does nothing (in either way)

I have a 2560x1440 monitor and can use DSR to downsample from up to 5120x2880 on my GTX 1080 Ti in some less demanding games but usually stick to 3840x2160 which is 150% over my native resolution.

However, I prefer to use in-game resolution scalers where possible because they reduce HUD and text scaling artefacts as the game can render those at 2560x1440 and the graphics at 4K. Many Unreal Engine 4 games support resolution scales above 100% so I am surprised that this doesn’t.

Mind you, while Gravel is a fun budget game, its presentation and menus are more on the functional (a.k.a. bland) side so I’m not sure the HUD and text would look much crisper anyway. Still, there’s no reason not to allow this option to go up to 200% like other UE4 games since the feature is built into the engine, I believe.

that's my thinking exactly ... plus, like i said - i can use resolution scaling with windowed mode (and take even prettier screenshots, lol) :)

It'as a budget game. Conseuqnetly it's normal that this game doesn't offer this option.

why is that? resolution scaling isn't some AAAA-exclusive feature ... especially if the engine itself already supports it out of the box

I found way to use resolution scaling in this game.
Go to: C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\gravel\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor and edit:
Engine.ini.

Add this line:
[ConsoleVariables]
r.ScreenPercentage=XXX
where XXX is your scale. Works great, I'm using this to play at 4K with 80% scale.
Kimul Mar 4, 2018 @ 9:59am
for better temporal antialiasing I'm recomending also this lines:
r.TemporalAACatmullRom=1
r.TemporalAAPauseCorrect=1
r.TemporalAASamples=4
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1

yup, it works!!! and runs great (still rock-solid 60fps at 150%) ... and looks amazing ( https://i.imgur.com/9VR4hPj.jpg ) ... sooooo good! :D

all the more reason why the devs should add resolution scaling as an option - it makes the game look even better
