Dream Quest

Best class for defeating You-Know-Who
Wondering what people think is the best class for beating him, or the best way. Not counting the two classes that don't count for other than class-specific achievements.

I did beat him with dragon class by spamming poison. Doesn't count, tho.

Got close with the bard, took him down to 1/5 of his hp, preparation talent in combination with the songs and getting double the effects just before the boss seemed really good, combined with spell-heavy deck and Archmage/Piercing.

But what do I know. Opinions? :flowey:

To answer my own question:

The class Assassin with action cards for mana generation, mana swell and double blight cards. Grabbed heal ability at lvl 1 talents to escape battle, then heal to full and go in again.

That earned me the victory against the version that takes double turns, poisons me and makes me choose my death. Got a little lucky there.

Feel fairly proud about myself. :flowey:

Congratulations! I've beaten the LotD with all classes but Dragon, Priest, and Paladin (on iOS, not Steam). For a long time, I thought Assassin was easiest (I thought it was the only way to kill the LotD for a loooooong time), but there's a weird trick that I think pushes another class over the top.

Bard--The trick here is realizing that you can carry over the song activations from the third level to the LotD floor. The easiest way to take advantage of this is to find the third floor boss fairly early and kill him with your songs, but make sure you have enough monsters left to fight to reset all your song/preparation cooldowns. After you clear the level, you pop your songs/preparation, then do it again on the LotD floor. With all the unlocks, this means you can have 32 song effects going on; the easiest way for that to kill the LotD, I think, is Pugilist's Polka (In the next combat, whenever you would draw a card during your turn, deal 3 physical damage to your opponent) with Rollicking Rondo (In the next fight, whenever you play an Action card, draw a card), so that each of your actions draws four cards and does 48 damage (even better if you can double up one of those songs, of course).[/spolier]

Ah yes, this was my plan as well at first but I didn't realise that you could actually activate the songs on the third level with preparation, I only did the preparation tactic on 4th floor with the boss.

Fair enough, fair enough! Probably not going to bother completing the challenge with every class, but I will probably do a couple runs every now and then just for laughs, game was rather enjoyable. :flowey:
