One final thought I find artifacts give more energy per tick then mana/rage which is also a factor.
Mana I need to babysit and recast spells half way through.
Rage I need to click / autoclick stone for 25% gain.
Energy I can set and forget. More or less.
I also like the absolute separation between gold and knowledge for energy, though not all seem to.
Also. Volv is Energy ☺️
1) rage - click passive only increases gold, not knowledge ( oposite to other 2 champs) and switching to research gives very little boost (oposite to other 2 champs)
2) energy - dont have permanent pasive (oposite to 2 other champs)
3) mana - got pasive skill that works offline too (ososite to 2 other champs)
1) energy heroes does not have any boost skill to the crit (oposite to other 2 champs). rage got 4,5% mana got 7,5% so in the end the difference is not that big.
2) for energy heroes critical profits works toward knowledge gains (oposite to other 2 champs)
I prefer mana over rage. Mana is idle, rage is clicking, no? I don't even like all that clicking with the pet (still hoping for a button to do battle in one click, or at least finish it after hitting once so I know what happens).
The original question is badly asked and could not result in any valid information IMO. As the "liked" does not correlate with the "best" or "preferable" here.
The joy in Idle games, for me, comes from the fact that I can analyze the system that drives them and make choices based on that system to optimize my growth. In the current state of Midas Gold, the Energy mode comes closer to doing that than Mana or Rage.
So rather that saying my favorite (prob rage actually, i enjoy being able to add my clicks to the automatic part, the other 2 are a bit passive), id say that if the question was about which hero to make for end game content, i would suggest a magical hero who changes type every 24hours (first login after those 24hours, to be precise), so i can keep the diversity!
assuming that the game is still developing there is no "end game" hero. In other words in some time htere will be next, better one and so on.you could speak of "end game" only if the hero would be the very last one.
i would say the devs should ask what is our LAST FAVORITE hero type and pimp it a lil bit :)
I've got about 120 hours play time now according to steam (almost two weeks real time, will claim the day 7 daily for the 2nd time when the next daily becomes available). I mostly used Audrey (mana) in the beginning. Whenever I tried Gilligan (rage) I just couldn't leave it on him for long because I preferred how the game played with Audrey.
After almost a week (like by day 5 or 6) I got enough diamonds to unlock Scarlet (rage) and then it seemed like hardly any time at all before Irwin (mana) was unlocked as well... and then there wasn't much time spent with Irwin either before I unlocked Kenny (energy). Maybe a couple days in total to blast through that part of the game.
And now it feels like progression has slammed into a thick steel wall with Kenny. It seems as if offline progress barely exists with him. While I was at any of the previous champions I could close the game and come back later with more than 3-4 times my current diamonds waiting to be claimed. Currently if I close the game I see no significant gain in diamonds offline. It seems like I can only really see even a bit of a gain there if I leave the game running in the background all day or if I activate all raids a couple dozen times in a row (luckily the event piles them on to make this actually be kind of reasonable to do).
But as much as it doesn't feel like Kenny is doing that great (I think I might still be another week or two away from unlocking the next champion?), I see even less progress if I try to run a previous champion at this point in the game. So I don't know...
Honestly though, I think the champions having predetermined modes and being set apart from each other on distant tiers kind of works against the concept of really having a choice in play style anyway. I've seen it mentioned, and it seems to hold true, that the newest champion is always the strongest and most profitable choice regardless of what you personally think of that champion's play style. Really, it seems like all of the champions ought to have the option to switch between all three modes (switching some stats as well but having them all tuned to where each mode is mathematically equivalent with the other modes on the same champion under optimal conditions), or all three starting with Kenny at least (might just be rage and mana for the ones before him). Maybe scale Audrey's stats up slightly and give her an unlock requirement to set her apart as her own tier halfway between Gilligan and Scarlet.
At least that would (presumably) be the quick and easy fix. If they want to get more involved and really rework the system in a larger way, they could consider separating out the tier advancement part of it as a neutral set of unlocks separate from the champions (ie have shared stats for all champions, they all get stronger together) and leave it as each champion being tied to just one mode, however each champion gains one exclusive talent to set them apart from others of the same mode. (So as an example if you've unlocked up through Kenny then Gilligan and Scarlet would grant the same Kenny-scaled rage mode stats as each other but Gilligan would have a 5th rage ability that's completely unique to him and Scarlet would have one unique to her.)
