I think the idea was that the players would see how Toko has grown since the first game, wanting to move forward no matter how hard it is.
But instead i felt like Toko was an impatient maniac who doesnt care the lives of others and only cares about her option alone.
I fully agreed with the resistance leader, we have no weapens so how do we fight?
And when he asked Toko if she had any well thought out plan she just called him a coward.
Its like calling a unarmed robbed person a coward because he didnt fight back againts criminals who had knifes and guns.
To me, she was unlikable in the 1st game and got even more obnoxious in this game. The falling out she had with Komaru is another example why I dislike her even more than before. She accused Komaru for using excuses of normality to give up and calls her a coward for doing so. This comes from a girl who has no plan, no weapon, no ally and not even the courage to move forward on her own.
It's okay if you don't like her, Toko isn't exactly somebody I would describe as "rational". Her personality is pretty shook up, rightfully so, in my opinion. So she says things to intentionally argue with people, make them feel bad about themselves or towards her. She never learned how to make friends properly and the instances people tried, it was just a joke.
But she isn't keeping quiet about her opinion, even if it isn't towards your preference.
Yet I could never agree with the last sentence you typed up:
Toko HAS A PLAN. Before she met Komuro, she was on her way to rescue her beloved Byakuya-sama. And said meeting wasn't even an incident as you know, Komuro at first was just a part of a deal for Byakuya's life to her.
Toko HAS WEAPONS. I mean, come on. You forgot about Genocider Sho's weapons?
I don't see what having no allies has to do with being a coward.
And sneaking onto a helicopter to rescue someone Toko would die for is something I would defend to call courageous.
I consider them different characters altogether. Genocide Jack is the one who has weapons and knows how to use them, Toko doesn't.
As do I but Toko clearly needs Komaru to move forward. I doubt she'd get far without Komaru or Genocide Jack doing almost everything for her.
Let's just say I don't really think she's doing it out of love... More like driven by lust or abnormal obsession. If so, then it's not courageous or brave but more towards being rash and stupid.
I think it's pretty obvious now I really don't like her. Sorry but I just don't see anything positive about her at all. She's currently my 2nd most unlikable character in Danganronpa, with Nagito at the very top and Hagakure just below her.
Also, as was said, Toko gets far better in this game. It's called character development.
Her "character development" is currently heading towards downhill to me.
I sincerely hope you're right... Because I'd rather not have another Velvet, ugh.
Tales of Berseria, ugh. It's has a simpler and better game mechanics than Zestiria but with god awful protagonist. I honestly felt I wasted about 45 hours of my life after beating that game, thanks to Velvet. She's such an obnoxious protagonist.
Well, as I consider them to be two minds in the same brain, we would be discussing semantics of the brain and split personalities from here on out, and I'm not willing to go this far. Let's agree to disagree.
Couldn't know that, since we never see it happening. Let's also not forget how often Komaru has to rely on Toko to press on.
Granted. I see love where you don't. Let's agree to disagree.
It's fine, really, I just see her as my new favorite character because of her development in this game. I find it weird that she left such a bad impression on you, but I accept your decision to not like her. She is not made to be everyone's favorite and she is clearly trying to brush people off with her behaviour.
Toko is understanderable based on her past, which is documented both in this game and in Danganronpa 1. Her actions make sense in relation to personality and her experiences. She was also quite different to how she was in Danganronpa 1, but in an understandable way. In the arguments wtih the Resistance leader she was partially berating herself and how she used to be. How she is at the start of Another Episode might not be nice, but it is better than where she was in Danganronpa 1 in terms of her will power and her willingness to take action.
And as an aside, I thought Velvet was brilliant in that she fits perfectly into her story, and the story of Berseria manages to have what is basically a protaganist villian, and a heroric antangonist. The lines were so heavily blurred that there was very little ability to put the protaganist and antagonist into easy categories like good and evil.
