How to fix "This Application cannot run under a Virtual Machine"

So while searching everywhere to fix this error, I found something that fixes the error. The game for some reason thinks your PC is a VM if the name of your computer name starts with a "DESKTOP" within it's name. For example, DESKTOP-123ABC. To fix it, go to System -> Advanced settings -> Computer Name. Click "Change" and change the "DESKTOP" to something else, like Jamal-PC, etc, and then restart your computer and it will be fixed. If you have something different than "DESKTOP" header, then disable Hyper-V by going to "Programs and Features" and" Turn on and off Windows Features". Hope that helps. If only I can post this on the forums, but keeps getting cooldown.

Changing my PC Name, trying to disable HyperV, which I dont have on my Home edition of W10, and now switching the game from my SSD to the normal memory.

I really hope this gets fixed soon as there is no way I can disable Hyper-V as I use VMs every day. I was looking forward to this game so much :(

the game was working on windows 10 for many months as a standard client install and also a steam install.

I updated to build 1803 and it stopped with the VM error.

I have never and do not have any VM software running
I disabled all HyperV services and made them manual start
the machine does not have "desktop" in its computer name
I have disabled and uninstalled all antivirus and disabled defender
checked all event logs and other logs for any sign of any error - zip

I have this message from NewZ support who have been very helpful in suggestions and I thank them for their attention to this error.

Have you tried disabling Memory Write Protection on Windows Defender?
We have been investigating this issue for the past few days and we plan on reworking the VM Protection system we have in place, but this could be a fix in your case.

lets hope whatever they do fixes it - i am going crazy not playing........

The solution is over here, after do this, restart your computer, select the "no hypervisor" option in the "windows boot options" and after, try to launch the game.
There may be have some options like "no hypervisor", but only one of them will work, if the first one you try doesn't work, try others.

If you want, you can remove the wrong other options in "msconfig". I recommend keeping the original boot option (that option will work the hyper-v) and the "no Hypervisor" option (this option don't work hyper-v but run your game).

if you do it, you won't need to uninstall hyper-v in case you need it for something.

"Disable additional virtualization features" worked for me
