Wrong XBox 360 controller button mapping
I have a wireless XBox 360 controller and button mapping is all wrong eg. B button to confirm, directional keys to look around, right thumbstick to show menu... basically all mappings are weird. The onscreen text doesn't match to what I actually need to press eg. it says to use right stick to look around but it's actually mapped to the dirpad. The game seems to think it's a PS4 controller (judging by the hint icons).
The controller works correctly in all other games, uses default Windows drivers and I have no other controllers.

PC specs:
Windows 10 x64 (version 1703)
CPU: i7-3770 3.4GHz
GPU: Geforce GTX 980
RAM: 16GB

If you have an unofficial controller, please also try these steps to see if they help.

That did it, thanks! On to the game then... :)

Ok, so it's not fixed after all. It seems to work fine at first but then switches back to that ps4 layout seemingly at random (the icons change). I got some of the choices wrong because of that - I thought I selected something but the dialog went as if I chose another option.
I found I need to press a key on a keyboard or move a mouse so it switches to keyboard icons and then when I hit anything on the controller it goes back to the correct settings.
From what I can tell it happens when I choose some options (i.e. hitting the X, Y, A, B), not when just walking around, but I might be wrong about that. It's not reliably reproducible every time but happens a lot.

Ran into that problem as well. From what I determinded, if you set your controller turn off too low and it cuts off while you are afk for a few, the controlls will be glitchy.

The controller must be powered on before starting the game and if it turns off, dies while the game is up, you will have to restart the game or the buttons will bne glitched.
