"Hyped" is too strong a word, for me. Interested, quietly anticipating, but I've learned that geting over-excited about things like the usually isn't worth the effort. I'll get excited once I get hold of it and actually start playing.

I'm pretty excited but also a little concerned about the story possibly being a bit of a cliché (standard-issue widower dad, marginalized child with an active imagination).

I think what the free Captain Spirit game is showing us is that the new protagonist will be young male, was his name Chris?, aka Captain Spirit...I think this free game will show him as a very young boy and then Season 2 he will be a young adult like age of Max and Chloe..

Not only that. Some of your decisions in the game will be transferred into LIS 2. So you may have a different starting situation based on your playthrough of Captain Spirit. I think it's a must play if you're interested in playing LIS 2.

So what you mean then? Because you haven't played this game yet. You can't know if its "childish" or not. But the PEGI 16 makes it pretty obvious, that it's not a game for kids.

Yeah.. read this a lot today^^ But to be honest, the first thing that came in my mind was that he looks like a male Max, with the freckles and all :D
Compare a few images of Chris and Max in the farewell episode. There are definitely some similarities^^
