[MINOR BTS SPOILERS] - 'Happy' ending for Sam & Nathan?
WARNING!
This post contains minor spoilers for Life is Strange: Before the Storm! If you haven't played the game or did not get to the mentioned part of the game, please I recommend to first play the game fully before reading this.

I was lately asking myself how to get Samantha and Nathan together, as they sit together below the tree at the Blackwell campus. At first, when I ran into Sean Prescott (World's WORST Dad), I chose to tell Sam to give Nate space or to 'let himself calm down', but it ended with:

As Nate approached Samantha, she looked angrily on him and rather than being with him she stood up and left. Nathan was standing there, angry in his face...

What to do to avoid it?

I don't know if I should say Sam to help Nathan. Because, when I was thinking it through, I felt as Nate would rather break onto her in blind rage and hurt her fatally. Or also that could actually bring them together.. but giving him up? That could have both effects, considering Nathan's unstable behaviour.

For myself, I understand myself confused. Looking on me as a very closed introvert with problems reaching out, I get Nathan has troubles dealing with his issues - pressure from father, nonsense about Prescott legacy etc. But also, I understand being mean to those who tried to help (Chloe fending off Drew when he picked on Nathan, for example) isn't much pleasing, either.

Can I ask for the best possible counsel with you, people? Thank you.

I know, it's just a game, but so well written and on-point in certain issues I just can't stop thinking about them in the last days.

I don't think Deck Nine wrote it so you can get them together, they wrote it to show as Nathan being unstable and also unable to have a stable relationship with a girl. So I do not believe there is any way for you to get them to be together in Life is Strange: Before the Storm, because the developer did not put that option into their game, unfortunately.

See that is the problem with games like this, if they show something in the game they should have you as the person playing the game able to make choices on all aspects. I know it would force the budget for the game way up but games like this that are basically an interactive story NEED to be done so that the player gets to explore all options that are presented in the game storyline. Otherwise if they aren't going to put something in, like the relationship between Samantha and Nathan, then don't show it as something that is happening in the story.

I understand this. For me, I hated that I could not stop Chloe from dyeing THAT part of her hair blue, I would definitely feel better if it was an opinional choice, just like with the beanie found in the truck glovebox.

However, I remember seeing all opinional cinematics on YT one day, where in one, Nathan actually sat under the tree besides Samantha and she did not leave.

I imagine you need to tell Sam to help Nathan.

Me, I told her to stay the hell away from him. Nathan is a tragic character because if he had got therapy he could likely have been saved, so it's his dad's fault really, but that doesn't change the fact that Sam would only get hurt by him, and possibly even killed. In my opinion, Nathan was beyond the point where Sam could have helped him for real - something more drastic was needed, otherwise you're just turning her into a victim.

Nathan is already beyond saving in BtS. He already made up his mind on being mean to others, even the ones who try to help him. His "dad issues" are no excuse for that. So yes, it's better to prevent Sam from trying to mate with Nathan (by telling her either to give him space or to stay away from him).

But if you really want them to be together for some time, fend off Drew in ep.1 and tell Sam to help this Prescott beatch in ep.2.

Yeah, the thing is though "his dad issues" are his WHOLE problem and if his father would have been less like Nathan and more like a normal father he would have done A LOT more then just get a doctor that prescribes drugs which is ONLY an attempt to gain further control over his son.... he basically paid for a doctor that would just keep his son the way he was but be better controlled with the drugs so he could better control his son and make him into the backstabbing adult that he wanted Nathan to be...

See the whole problem is that Sean Prescott is exactly like Nathan only intelligent enough to know how to hide his "issues" when he needs to, where as Nathan lacks that intelligence and could never evolve into another "Sean Prescott"... He is doomed with a father like that and in fact we really should all feel very sad/sorry for what Nathan's father did to him... :(

If Nathan was hella introvert like Max and didn't interact with anyone, that could be true. But as we know, he hanged out with a plenty of peeps, so he still could interact with people normally, without going full mean on them. But instead of choosing right people, people who could really care about and support him, he chose that Sh*ttex club. By himself. So yes, Sean is hella terrible person and he was responsible for not helping his son, but ultimately it was Nathan's fault that he ended up hurting good people. And I can't feel anything but hate for someone who hurt Chloe, let alone shot her.
