BtS was more for some fleshing out of the LiS, rather than a attempt to copy the success of LiS....
Sorry you didnt think it was as good, i enjoyed it immensely
I do think the "Argument minigame" is way less interesting than the time-reversal ability of LiS.
We'll probably put another couple hours into BtS to see if we can get into it.
You feel that maybe because of the changed VA to?!
Ep. 2 is hilarious.
Whatever we say after this point will give you a spoiler, so finish BtS and find out by yourself. Episode 1 has slow pace, Episode 2 is intense and has many good moments.. and the finale is.. you will find out. Give it a try.
From what I saw, you are already prejudiced for Chloe's character, this is where you lost. I am assuming that you finished Season 1 and saw their all character arcs -yet despite everything went in there and heard Chloe's words (especially) at the end, hating her is just clutching at straws to me.
One should get the fact that, either Max and Chloe never set up to be a paragon of society who can do no wrong.
Some people hate Max for not getting for touch with Chloe for example; but at the end of the day, people technically played Season 1 and saw Max's character arc, like how she had been so dedicated to save Chloe -more than anything.. and without her she was nothing. Even her inner monologues at road-to-SF were explaining all of these. Did Max make mistakes for not getting in touch? Yes, that was her mistake, we all make mistakes. But does that make Max evil or mean person? Nope. Max isn't evil or mean. As all "haters" should remind themselves that, Max potrayed as human.
Some people hate Chloe. But In S1, you also didn't see real Chloe. That Chloe was "broken Chloe" who was thinking everybody left her (William, Max and then Rachel) and she was feeling alone again. She was putting her tough persona as shelter, just to not get hurt (yet she was, anyway) Did she make mistakes? Yeah she did. Did she put herself to trouble? Yes she did. But in the deep she was a good person (even has guts to sacrifice herself for everyone and take all responsibility from Max) and realized her mistakes? Yes, definitely. Eventually both understood how much they mean to each ther and how much they love each other and they brought each others' good sides; They *healed* each other and how we understood that "one isn't good without the other" Hence why the dynamic, change between these two was so important.
In BtS you will see real Chloe (less broken Chloe) and how she was when her saviour figure (Rachel) came to save her from this loneliness while she was feeling down.
So whatever I'm saying is, try to understand their character. This is the fun part of Life is Strange.
BtS is much more of a highschool drama and that's it, where as LiS had all that time manipulation stuff in it to make it more interesting.
Having said that why do you both hate Chloe? She is, or can be difficult to get close to that's for sure but try to see things from her point of view...
1) Her father dies in a car accident, she loved her father unconditionally he was EVERYTHING to her and just like that at 13 years old he is wiped from her life.
2) Within a week, or maybe even less time, she looses her BFF Max Caulfield because her parents moved to Seattle. Now think about that for a few seconds, Max and Chloe grew up together from toddler age to age 13 and that would make them sisters, no doubt about it so they would also LOVE each other and feel like the other is part of their family.
So Chloe, still a 13 year old, looses two family members she absolutely loved at the same time. Do you see where I am going with this? Can you perhaps begin to have some compassion for Chloe in the way she acts now?
I hope what I have said helps you to see Chloe Price in a different light and maybe, just maybe, you can see why she acts like she does and have a little bit more compassion for her moods.
Also the thing about Chloe Price that a lot of people don't realize is that IF you do become close to her, like Max and her father were, she would go to hell and back for you and not even bat an eye at the prospect of her loosing her life in that process...
Edit: Oh OP and make sure you read Chloe's journal through the game that will help a lot in discovering that she IS likely the best character written in the LiS series...
Dude, this is a perfect description of Chloe's emotional state and why her character is so complicated and broken. Almost brought me to tears :)
Sorry if it made you cry dude, I didn't intend that I just wanted to help the OP to enjoy the game a bit more because BtS is a really good addition to this wonderful series and it would be a real shame for some fans of the series to not be able to like it because they "think" they hate Chloe Price...
It's all good. It's hard, but i hold it back ;)
I'm just an empathic person and her story is really sad, if you think about it. People dislike her, because she is outwardly rude and a little selfish, but it's more like a shield she uses to protect herself from more bad experiences. Like in "Good Will Hunting" for example ;)
But she has a good heart and is a very kind person. We learn this in Life is Strange, when we go back in time and in the later episodes. In BTS we saw even more of her good side. Then Rachel disappeared and she fell into a deep hole. It's sad, that we see her only once again in March :)
