Supernatural Aspect to Rachel Amber?
When I watched the scene where Rachel starts the forest fire, I couldn't help but wonder if she was using some kind of special ability to do this. It was as if she screamed, and the fire spread out in some kind of unnatural way. You can even find a news report (spoken on TV) saying the fire is behaving in unexplained ways that no one has ever seen before. Is Rachel controlling the fire subconsiously? Is she a closeted pyrokinetic, like how Max is a time-traveler? I swear, in that final scene where Rachel loses it at the dinner table, I was convinced the was going to set the place on fire. The camera just focused on those candles and I was so sure something was going to happen. Not to mention all the fire-related foreshadowing everywhere in the game.

Her mood is affecting the weather?
Also, as I pointed out in another thread, the homeless lady said her family and maybe her real mother in particular (that's what I think) is linked to the events in the original game, the supernatural part of them I mean. Her mother's got a butterfly tattoo which makes me think she's connected. We saw butterflies in LiS.
Although their colour had always been blue, not yellow. Maybe her tattoo means she's in prostitution and I'm wrong

She doesn't have power. Thats a myth.
Max is the only one who has. The effects appearing after Rachel started the wildfire, is only to underline her desperation.

Ever since LiS I always thought of them as elements. Max as Wind, Chloe as Water and Rachel as Fire..... haven't figured out Earth yet.

When Max is making breakfast with Joyce, she called her grounded though.

I'd rather consider Max as beeing soil, even she caused the storm.

She is the most reasonable of those three.
And according to her zodiac sign her element is earth.
So is water for Chloe and fire for Rachel

If Rachel has control of the wind with her emotion, then wouldn't something like cheating on her with Max cause a massive storm........that breaks lighthouses.

I can't help but recall the save Chloe ending from LiS. In the final scene there were dust particles in the air but to some it looked like snow - meaning we haven't fixed anything and the storm is about to come anyway. BtS would not be the first time devs are confusing us with weather effects then :)

She was already dead at that time.

Jep. Wishful thinking.
It's statet by all sides, that is her. But people who aren't going to accept this always will look for alternatives.
But these won't affect the games released.
So it remains wishful thinking ;-)

There was a lot of talk about this when the first episode came out, but I just don't see it now. I think the fire started because the tree was very old and nothing more. The weird wisps that happen when the tree burns can also be seen in otrher parts of game 1 and other episodes...I think this is just a stylistic/artist choice to show wisps of wind blowing.

I would think if there was some kinda of supernatural aspect to Rachel, they would have shown more during episode two. I mean there are only 3 episodes, so there really is little time to show much of this is episode 3 considering all, the loose ends that need to be tied up and explained.

I think the devs are just sort of cleverly hinting at the magical side of Arcadia Bay. Chloe's dreams/visions, the crow, Rachel's connection to fire. They can all be interpreted as magical or written off as nothing, which makes sense given the magical realist narrative of the series.

They're unsettling, but they're certainly not concrete in any way.

We may get a few more hints at magical elements in the finale, but--again--I would expect that they, too, could be be written off as nothing.

I think you're right. Actually after you wrote it I'm 100% sure it will be this way

Yeah the devs are hinting some supernatural aspects to Rachel Amber like that strong wind and the wildfire (that they caused) but I don't think she has any powers, and I think the game would be better off that way. IF Rachel does have powers maybe she isn't aware of it and can't even control them, it maybe triggered when her emotions get the best of her. We never really know, the devs might pull another plot twist and reveal that she does have some type of supernatural ability, the game might be leaning toward that way because Chloe is the realist, the one that is grounded and Rachel being the dreamer who shows Chloe that something that's make-believe can sometimes be real (like Max's powers) I'm sure the devs would be giving us an answer by the next episode (or maybe in the bonus) And I'm really looking forward to episode 3 because "Brave New World" was really good and to me is in the top 3 of the best episodes in the LIS series

I doubt it.
The devs once sayd the only character having supernatural powers is max.
They considered more, but dropped it, becausecit would be ridiculous haven so many people like that.

So the only power Rachel might have is in fact a a skill.

She has the power of seduction, for sure.
She's got a great perception, proven in the train.
She is very intelligent, a great actor and beautiful.
And she acts unscrupulously

Those skills combined, release a great power. But nothing supernatural

The part about the fire spreading really fast is totally possible because I have faught forest fires a lot in my youth and I have seen fires take a forest so fast that it actually sounds like a jet plane taking off, trees litterally exploding in flame.

Once we had to drop all of our equipment and run to a rockslide area just to escape the flames, and that fire was nearly completely out and then the wind came up and it spread so fast it was unbelievable. It was down the hill about 400 or even 500 yards and I turned to my brother and yelled at him to bring the hose nozzle down to where I was and by the time I turned back around to look at the fire it was even with me and even passing me...
