Did Deck Nine get money from the tobacco industry?

Rewatching episode 2 again I realize, how prominent ciggarettes are placed throughout the game.

• You might smoke in a corner on the school yard, pondering.
  
• When finding the butts in the corner of the parking lot., Chloe sugguest, smoking is common, people just won't admit it anymore, This is especially concerning due to the fact, that teenage smoking gets less and less popular, the sugguestion, that this news might be bull and still everybody'S doing it.
  
• In the junkyard, right after Chloe got suspended/expelled and has to calm down from the fight with her mom and stepdouche, she is smoking in a sequence. Not only is the cigarette dominatly placed in the frame, her lying upside down is one of the coolest shots/ motive for a desktop wallpaper you can find in the game.
  
• After fixing the car, you have to lit a cigarette to progress the plot , therefore it becomes a plot device.

Also notice, that Joice and David will get upset for her emptying Pot on the car, but won't say a thing about the cigs You have to remind yourself, Chloe is not an adult at that stage, but still 16.

While I get it, teenagers smoke, it's still remarkable how it is handled, especially if you compare on how smoking is banned more and more from TV. Don't forget, it is not a side character smoking, but the main character, who is designed for you to relate to.

We know from LIS, that Chloe was a smoker, it is not shocking, she is at that younger age. So you might blaime it on the setup Dontnod left for her. But we actually don't see her smoke, we only saw her having cigarettes. The time she did smoke a joint she immediately got in trouble for it.

Thing is, although Chloe also is a stoner, it is not shown, that she smokes a joint at some point. Not that it is sugguested, she wouldn't want to, on the contrary, but she just fails to do so. So why not handle cigarettes in a similar way?

I get showing her smoke adds to the realizm of the scene and gets us a better feel for where Chloe stands. Hiding it might feel odd, like the devs made a Character they were ashamed of. Like "Sims 4" pixeling shower scenes, or shooter claiming, you fight robots instead of people. I might even get annoyed, if I got the feeling they deliberately avoided the topic of Chloe being a smoker.

But still I think, people should be aware of that this might be deliberate to secretly advertise smoking.

I think Chloe mom and David don't pay that much attention to cigarettes, since she's coping with a lot in her life. Pot is somehow different. Not to mention that the character was intrdcued by european studio, and smoking in high school is pretty much norm in Europe.

If you look at max, she's against smoking and encourages using e-cigs instead

I think she is only afflicted by Mariuhana abuse and no other drugs (maybe some minor alcohol abuse too, but ok, there are many bottles in her room in LiS).

in BtS, if you are talking about leaving to LA with her, she dreams of smoking pot at the Monica pier together with Chloe.

In LiS Nathan told max st the diners, that Rachel partied even more than himself. I believe him.

You might suggest that, I'm a smoker so I didn't notice it. However, blatant advertising would go something like this:

Rachel: Wow Chloe, you smoke a lot.
Chloe: Yeah, Marlboro are my favorite, try one.
Rachel: Cough...yeah, I could totally get used to this...
Chloe: Cool huh?
