[Spoiler] Rachel's "punishment"
A line has been bothering me from the first episode, towards the end when Rachel says "My dad will punish me with..." Rachel seems like she cares about her dad but that line made me think maybe abuse? Anyone else feel this way or maybe it's nothing. Thoughts?

It definitly hints at some form of abuse. I think the implication is intentional. Whether its a red herring or an actual clue is hard to say before we get the next two episodes.

All we really know about Rahel's parents from season 1 is that they were "in denial" about Rachel's disspaearance. Chloe does not seem to hold any animus against them, so it's hard to imagine her finding out about Rachel being abused in BTS. (Unless it gets retconned, of course.)

Abuse makes no sense to me. Rachel carries around a photo of her dad and tells the story of gow he was her hero because he was able to calm her down when she was injured. If ge became abusive the years to follow neighter it would make sense for her to still honor him with keeping the photo, nor for her to totally loose it over her disappointment of his affaire that she already expected him to have.
Thing is Rachel wanted to believe her dad was flawless and couldn't anymore since she saw the proof. If her dad was abusive, him also being unfaithful would just be another flaw

I agree that there are som signs of abuse for sure. I first noticed it when she covered up Chloe's black eye flawlessly. I think that scene was meant as alot more than what you can take from it just at the surface level.

I didn't think of that!

Well, i mean she might love him but still, he might be a little old fashioned, and just punish her for not being perfect. I mean, that happens? It dosent have to be abuse anyways.

I meant what kind of punishing? grounding them and smacking them around are 2 different things

Depends, we can see that he was going around with a photo of her to principal and police to look for her, becouse she did not contacted, soo she propably was just speaking about grounding or anything. In other situation who know. Thing is, from what we know about hit he might be just happy to find her and then angry about her dissapearing not contacting and stuff in situations like that you wont go physical, she will get grounded, that for sure.

I was gonna say the way she carried the photo and how she talked about how much she loved him kinda goes against abuse based on how strongly she reacted when seeing him with the woman under the tree. But this is an exellent point about the makeup and something to surely consider..

It does seem like a very specific event to put in the game.

She could be in some sort of denial, hoping and wishing her father is a decent guy or maybe he was then just turned into a different person.

We know that she works in modelling business, so she hasexperience the work of visagists first hand. To me it is not ordinary if she therefore hand learned some tricks. Especially if she was a child when she started, people would have been happy to teach her, if she asked.

Yup that story breaking ( we can't say lore in this situation ) broke my heart because as brewski mentioned in lis season 1 her parents were worried but in bts why her dad is hooking up with another woman

Abuse? Maybe not that far. But usually, rich people are caring alot about how others would see them. He is attorney, having a daughter doing illegal stuff would probably not look in Rachel's dad eyes.
