Yes, there was a version that BlankNote released that did contain adult content. However, when Frontwing remade Himawari - The Sunflower -, which is the version we are offering, it was specifically developed to be an all-ages version.
But thanks for your honest answer.
One day, you'll understand what your customers wants, it will be great.
You miss out more for that I would say, this is basically easily the best edition of the game with things such as voice acting, a edition who never had any sex scenes to begin with.
It's almost like they've become single-issue wonks to the exclusion of other factors in considering the quality of the work.
Well, if they want to miss out on nice stories all over the place, then so be it.
If you really wants to know, I prefer fantasy or science fiction (SF > fantasy), and I like when the characters are more sex-friends than lovers. My references are Coµ and Ayakashibito, but I liked Duel Savior, Muv Luv Alternative and Fate/Stay Night, even if they didn't fit all my criterias.
Let's be honest, if all steam VNs were uncensored, the only two I would buy for sure are Aselia and ChuSinGura.
But I had suprises in the past, and games that I through I wouldn't like ended up pretty fun, like If my Hearts had Wings, Dracu-Riot, Shinigami no Kiss or Wanko to Kurasou. If you wants the details[vndb.org].
Still, I never manage to finish a VN with no porn.
But kudos for you to be able to motivate yourself to read a 40h novel for 5 min badly drawn hscenes.
But it's true that I'm sick with Japanese games censorship (not only VNs, Mugen Soul and Criminal Girl I think of you). I think it's obvious to assume that most people want to play the same game japanese PC gamers played, not a cut version or a console port (I know, in this case the censored version also exist on PC).
This is the PS Vita port.
And it's not like I can say I've even finished many VNs myself -- only a couple so far, and I've got WEE1, Aselia, and Sunrider on my already-started backlog, not to mention a bunch more I haven't even touched yet. I'm mainly not used to the VN format, especially when it's multiroute, so it's like I'm sitting on the very first decision point in Aselia right now and I haven't decided whether I want to play it blind or pick a route through the guide that came with the game.
As for the issue of various edits to games, which some decry as "censorship", I take that on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes the edits and other changes worsen the experience, such as for Final Fantasy 4's SNES version and (from what I've heard) for If My Heart Had Wings. But sometimes they can improve something, in my opinion. I've never been an "originalist" and I don't really feel that the original version of a work is necessarily better than any other version, considering that very often any "creative vision" has gone through many hands and many decisions (business-wise and artistic) to become a reality.
I do support giving people the choice of various versions of a work, as well as the ability to mod things themselves. So I was particularly impressed with how Trails in the Sky SC (for example) apparently had a hidden language selector for the (honestly sparse and unimportant) voicework -- while they couldn't relicense the Japanese voicework, they implemented English voicework along with this hidden feature that activates if you put the Japanese voicework files into the game files. (I haven't tried this myself but I remember seeing screenshots of it.)
I totally agree with your anti-originalism views, I'm not attached to artistic integrity, I mod my games when I can and I sometimes play remastered games.
Wanting the original for the sake of it being the original is nonsensical for me, I'm a pragmatic.
I just want my porn and fan service.
But I can't agree on censorship, I even have difficulties to understand it's reasons in a lot of cases.
Take Criminal Girl, it's a niche game full of fan service, what the point of editing it without the fan service, except to satisfy NISA's puritan boss ?
Of course I understand that porn games can't be sold "as it" on Steam, but uncensor patch are always possible, some companies do it.
Being French, I can't understand why there is so much hostility toward erotism and sex while violence remain unquestionned.
I'm not asking for less violent games here, people have the choice and it's fine, but people who wants porn don't have the choice, it's often taken from them, like that, for the sake of not having it, as if they can't decide by themselves.
I want erotic and porn game from japan translated "as it", not adapted for westen market.
Now, I'm asking.
