Archangel is installing Red Shell spyware on your pc without your knowledge.
Just In case people aren't aware Red Shell is a spyware that tracks data of your PC and shares it with 3rd parties. This is an absolutely unacceptable proposition. There is no opt out option and at no point do these developers make players aware that they are tracking almost anything you do on your pc.

Yes you can force remove the software but this should not need to be done.

I agree.

♥♥♥♥, how do we know if red shell is on our machine? I have not bought the game, yet, but I am starting to change my mind if I cannot uninstall it. How can I find red shell and uninstall it manually?

Search your steam install folder for redshell and if you have a game that installed it you will find files names redshell.dll or redshellsdk.dll... Note where they are installed as any file you find was installed by the game in which folder you found the file. You should be able to delete the redshell file manually or just uninstall that game.

Thanks, I checked and my system is clean, no redshell. I decided not to purchase the game and at 33% off it is a pretty good price. As innocent as redshell may be I hate being tracked and with the Facebook/Cambridge Analytics debacle I think most companies should take a course in business ethics. The trust is certainly gone.

Glad to help bub... Sorry to disappoint you with archangel but if they ever remove this redshell nonsense I would recommend the game.
sdi_random Jun 25, 2018 @ 1:11pm
Hi guys. Red shell was completely removed from the game as of today's patch.

May I inquire as to why it was there in the first place? Data collection on your part or remuneration from them for allowing them to piggyback on your prooduct etc.

yes, also am very interested as to why RedShell was used...

I have gotten no answer so I will stay away from the title. Once dishonest always dishonest.

Thank Sigvar. I will skip this as well. What a scam.. they wait until they are found out and pretend that nothing happens

Hey guys just thought I would update this thread and sorry for the delayed response. We had Redshell integrated for ad attribution. What this means, for example, is that when you see a trailer on FB, and click through to buy the game, we would know that a specific purchase came from facebook instead of, say Youtube or another location where we are advertising the game. This helps us determine which ad source is responsible for attracting players successfully (e.g. X players were from facebook, Y from youtube, Z from Twitch) and in turn allows us to spend money more efficiently. It's a pretty common practice in many games and other products bought online, but given the gaming community concerns about this specific software we decided, as many others have, that it was best to remove it.

Let me know if I can share any more info on the topic.

Thank You. I am satisfied.
