But yes, projectiles in general not being in the projection is a bit disappointing. Even with bullets, being able to fine-tune things to the point where you're slipping between shots would be all kinds of badass, but missiles in particular feel like a requirement,
That last line is it for me. I think there were 1 or 2 missions before I had or understood dash where they were rough, but then it was fine. If missiles were also simulated in the predictions for perfect timing on out maneuvering them, they wouldn't be OP at all.
But yes, they are OP for the player, too appealing to missile spam.
That said, in my recent missions I've being seeing some single shot missiles pop up with a ridiculous AOE and concussion damage, that one has been a bit silly.
They are cancer right now.
Thing is... as the point of LAUNCHING the missile, the time to hit is accurate.
Problem is is that if your target MOVES in the next turn, and your missiles havent hit, the time to hit will change.
If your target stays still, it will hit on time.
If your target moves fowards, it will hit sooner.
If your target moves away, it will hit later.
Likewise when missiles are fired at YOU.
Gotta use a little brain when estimating when you need to deploy your shield or get behind a building.
PS. missiles are not OP or do too much damage or are spammed.
Nubs just wanna fight in the open and not prioritize targets... or think.
It may differ from launcher to launcher, but usually missiles spend 2 seconds travelling distance equal to normal rifle range.
So, you need to visually asses how long it will take for missiles to reach you. Then just before impact happens you must dash (preferably in direction of missiles, so they have hard time turning) or run fast enough. This should avoid 90% of swarm.
If you want to learn about missiles travel time yourself I suggest equiping your mech with one and testing.
Use wait tool button to determine distance in metres of your mech from the enemy mech launching their missile(s).
Use time-line to determine when those/that missile will be launched during 5 second window.
Determine what missile launcher the enemy mech is using against you and if you know the speed / velocity value, which are valued at 5, 10 or 20 as far as I know. You can then work out, with a decent estimation reasonable margin of when to dash.
Now figuring out how the velocity value relates to distance over time is the tricky part. A value of 20 could (stress Could) mean 20 metres every tenth of a second. (Not likely though)...
So once you have determined the distance, speed and when the incoming missile(s) are launched on the time-line, you can figure out the flight time to your mech getting targeted if they were to remain standing still.
From that you can guess when to dash.
(Standing still may not be advisable for your mech and pilots' health and well being, due to the likely event of the threatening environment of other hostile mechs)
