You can beat it in about 30 hours, for full completion(liberate all provinces) it's more like 90.

well 30 hours feels worth the 20 it asks for i guess. i might get it tonight then

30 hours seems to be if you just beeline it. But you can also choose to take your time. I'm enjoying the combat so I'm just faffing around attacking things.

Technically, the game tells you what the final objective is as soon as the tutorial is done. You can spend as much time as you want preparing for it, liberating provinces and what not, but you could also just dart straight to the final objective. The run could last anywhere between say 2hrs ish to just muster a small force or 40+ hours messing around liberating provinces.

It's entirely up to you.

Fair point, there's also an achievement for beating the game without liberating any provinces(including the tutorial one!) You can just beeline it for the capital.

sounds boring if they made it so you can complete it without any challange at any time you see fit..

how is the maps then, if you decide to take over the whole map or most of it.. is it like 9 different maps in a loop?.. or more viarity then that?

There are 36 level files in the install folder. Those are the battle maps.
Some are far more frequent than others.

The overworld map itself doesn't change all that much, if at all. Beyond the tutorial, the scenarios are randomized every new campaign. It's enough to feel fresh, but the scenario pool is not too big so the scenarios will repeat. On that front it's a lot like XCom. Sure, there is a good pool of events, but once you've seen 4+ terror missions, you've seen what those are about.

I think it's worth it too. Bear in mind even if the map is similar, your spawn point and enemy spawn point can and do change. Also enemy group makeup changes and what each enemy unit carries changes. So the variety is in the combat.

im like 15 hours in and only in the first non-tutorial state.
McFuzz Mar 5, 2023 @ 11:20am
I'm 30 hours in and have no interest in finishing the game right now. It might be a bit samey, but I love the combat, so I'm happy to keep chipping at the regions~
