But do consider the fact the AI is mentally challenged and can't deal with you alpha striking it's mechs and then quickly running into cover, it's even worse when I go into battle and I am up against 5 melee heavy mechs and 3 tanks that have no chance in hell to get to me
Limited squad size has always been part of the genre. It's just that usually it has some kind of lore justification, like transport/drop pod capacity. It feels more off here, because you're literally walking from your base to the battlefield, so there's no logical reason why you wouldn't bring them all.
