Will this be like the old PS2 game ring of red!?? Loved that game!

Definitely not even close to Ring of Read, like, not even a little bit. It's not like Front Mission either, sadly, and is unlikely to ever get anywhere near either game.
Which is unfortunate, as I'd really like another mecha game with something like the infantry support system Ring of Red had.

Dang it.... I loved ring of red and front mission I saw a trailer for this and thought it might be close. Do you know anything that is similiar to those games?

Ring of Red, along with Dynasty Warriors 2 and Red Faction, were the first PS2 games I purchased. Great games. Would love another Front Mission game. FM3 is one of my favorite gaming experiences.

Never heard of Ring of Red, seems I may have missed a gem there.

Front missions 3 and 4 saw heavy use in my ps2 though. I was quite saddened to hear they dropped the front mission inspiration in favor of frozen synapse style combat.

Front Mission didn't invent taking turns and Phantom Brigade was directly inspired by scenes like the German base assault at the start of 4, hence the change to a WEGO system specifically mean't to capture the kinetic energy of these moments better than the actual inspirations ever did in terms of actual gameplay. I honestly don't understand why people frame this as a negative.

Because it was marketed as being heavily inspired by Front Mission, not Front Mission's cutscenes.

The turn based gameplay and mech combat were what I liked about Front Mission, not the cutscenes.

I might still try this when it comes to steam but I am significantly less interested in it than when they were planning to release it as a turn based game (which was the original intent)

That's a very self-serving line in the sand and I suspect you know it. You're still getting turn-based mech combat, so what's the big deal?

That combat is nothing like the turn based gameplay of front mission and you know it.

"Inspired by" and "exactly like" are two different things, though.

Now point to the part where I claimed they are exactly alike? The devs themselves said they started out making a more traditional turn based game. They had a demo of it for a while. They changed the gameplay because they did not think it was cinematic enough or something.

Anyway this is dumb and going off topic.

When you implied they would have to be for the claim one inspired the other to be true. Frankly, I find the comparisons both by devs and fans to be rather tenuous.

You can say the story cut scenes were inspired by front mission if you want I guess. You can't say the gameplay is inspired by it though.

I won't be responding to this anymore.

The moment-to-moment combat was so rudimentary I'm still unsure what inspiration could be gleamed from it.
